Make The Mood Feel Right!, January 27, 2008
This review is from: Only U / Turn It Up 1 (Audio CD)
This is an excellent single off Ashanti's album titled, "Concrete Rose". The title track is backed by a remix, the video and the "Turn It Up" featuring Ja Rule album version song. It's off the charts party music to feel good, forget your troubles and get ready to loosen up for a night of passion, or just to tear of the dance floor!
From my listening experience I especially enjoyed "Turn It Up" featuring Ja Rule for the fast paced beats along the positive lyrics sung by Ashanti. It makes me feel special, hot, and in the mood! "Don't you want to drink and dance tonight?" are just some words. Ja Rule has a very seductive thuggish voice definitely very on top of his game! Ashanti also takes her soft pleasant sounding singing to provoke thoughts of desire, and much enjoyment! I don't tire of listening to this track non-stop!
The "Only U Kelly G's Club Remix" is a great dance track with much elements of being in the club or dance floor. There's plenty of echoing swirls, trance effects, and techno beats along bass and repetitive drums and vocals. It's not a monotonous over and over sound but more of a varied jazzy hip hop disco infused style! It's on fire and definitely funky!!! The pace is high energy with not much break with some old school hinted.
The "Only U" video is included as the enhanced portion. If you enjoy Ashanti's music to party, dance, or just take pleasure in this will get your juices flowing for more! It won't disappoint. The fact it has varied songs all different with hip-hop, dance, and party together makes this a true favorite for the die-hard fan or just lover of R&B and hip-hop!

Not Even Because Of You, February 7, 2005
This review is from: Only U / Turn It Up 1 (Audio CD)
I can't believe how much a lot of manufactured artists really can't even sound enough to hit the nail on the head at all. In fact, I don't even think it is actually close. Ashanti is actually one example. Her latest single, Only U really doesn't sound very well recieved at all. Actually, it sounds like it is very cheap, and has little to no merit at all. The song sounds more like something Britney Spears or Beyonce' would be able to pick up in tune to a very well degree. I just really don't think this song fairs well in R&B at all. It is just such a sorrowful dissapointment to hear.
