About the Author
Hsinming Fung is Director of Academic Affairs at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, and principal and director of design for the internationally renowned architecture firm Hodgetts + Fung (H+F). She has overseen the design of distinguished projects such as the renovated Hollywood Bowl, Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center, the Wild Beast Pavilion at California Institute of the Arts, and a host of other influential designs. A demonstrated leader in academia, Fung has taught at Yale, Ohio State, and CalPoly, Pomona. Prior to her appointment as Director of Academic Affair, she served for eight years as the SCI-Arc Graduate Programs Chair.
Marcelyn Gow is a partner and founding member of servo Los Angeles. Her firm s work focuses on the development of architectural environments integrating synthetic ecologies with shifting material states and electronic information infrastructures. She currently teaches graduate design studios and cultural studies seminars at SCI-Arc and has been a visiting professor at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Gow has also taught at UCLA's Department of Architecture and Urban Design and the ETH in Zurich.
leads fpmod, a collaborative Los Angeles practice with an incisive fixation on contemporaneity, that thrives on the mannerist use of digital technology. As new modes of design and production are more involved with new technologies, her firm focuses on the underlying mechanisms of overlaying forms. Pita was a Fulbright Fellow at Harvard University, where she completed her Master of Architecture and Design. She is a full-time Design Studio professor at SCI-Arc.
