Among my arsenal of kitchen knives is an ancient Ontario that outperforms even the expensive chef set imported from Austria....that is probably the greatest testament to Ontario quality that I can offer.

This knife is no different. Designed to take on the most rugged use. Built to last ten lifetimes.

As it is primary function is as a combat knife the handle is a bit short and thin. This is to keep the balance...which is as near to perfect as I've ever seen. This does make the knife a little unwieldy as a survival tool (my intended use) as is, but does present a very useful modification which I counted on....paracord. Wrapping the handle from choke to butt with paracord using a simple loop stitch on the bottom creates a very comfortable grip while providing both a thumb loop and wrist wrap without disturbing the incredible balance. A paracord wrap on a non-paraframe knife? Brilliant!

If your intended use is combat then it is perfect as is.

The only complaint I can make is the poor factory edge which came ground at two different angles. This is hard steel so correcting that issue did take some time and effort but it is now sharp enough to shave with...even after hacking through a tree limb or three.

A really nice quality blade for the price, however, the sheath will need to be replaced. The sheath does not do the RAK Assualt Knife any favors....very loose fit.

How is it no-one has reviewed this knife?

I got this knife about 2 months ago and it is awesome in so many ways. I use it to hunt but also as a survival knife. The one thing you recognise when you first get this knife is that it is really sturdy, which means you can chop with it, prepare food, kill, finished off or dress game and lots of other uses. I have allot of knives and this one is in my top 3.

I also like that it is a long pointed knife which has many advantages. This more than anything is a battle knife that I would keep sharp for finishing and dressing game. I would use a separate knife for grunt work around camp. I also assume it would make a great SHTF knife because of its versatility. Most people would run seeing this thing in someones hand.

You wont be disappointed with this knife if you are sitting on the fence buying it.

This blade is very nice knife. I purchased mine for military use and it is a very good weight and feel. The 1095 high carbon steel is very durable and holds a good edge. The only complaint I have is the sheath. I am going to make a custom kydex sheath because the sheath it comes with is like a universal size and the knife rattles around in it.

Pull this out of the box and wasn't really pleased that the hex screws that were holding the micarta grips on were loose. So I tightened them and then inspected the blade. This is where I noticed that the edge was beveled more on one side than the other. This has made it exceedingly difficult to get a proper edge back to it without it getting foiled on the other side. The blade edge also had a skip grind to it where it was noticeably concave from the choil on forward to the tip. It is a very heavy well made knife indeed but when put next to my brothers ESEE 6, I am blown away by the super sharp edge and the fine detail work that ESEE does to the micarta handles. I think that I am going to take this thick blade and try and put a scandi grind to get a better edge to this beast.

This is a well designed tactical and field blade. The 1095 high carbon steel retains an edge very well and is extremely tough. The matte black finish is much tougher then I originly thought it would be. The nylon sheath is molle compatible and has two adjutable snap straps that retain the blade very well.

The knife is really good. Well balanced and sturdy. The handle is a bit small for my hands, but not uncomfortably so. The sheath is terrible. Really loud. I need to find a new one.

I absolutely love this knife! It is definitely the perfect mix between combat knife and survival knife. Sturdy sharp and made really well!!! The only reason that it's not getting a 5 star rating is because of the sheath. While it is made pretty well and has some good features like the external pocket, it just simply doesn't hold the knife very well unless it is buttoned up and even then it is still able to wobble around. Other than that the knife is awesome!
