I concur with many of the other reviews that after the first several this CD kinds of winds down - but those first several songs are incredible - and I come from a time when albums only had 8-10 songs on them.

Pop Evil do things the right way:

> Tour like crazy
> Respect and appreciate their fans
> Write great songs and are NOT one dimensional
> Put on a helluva live show
> Work with the radio stations as they tour the world
...and in general kick ass.

Being a 48 year old codger that grew up on Zeppelin/Sabbath/Priest/Scorps and Maiden - Pop Evil give me hope that rock and roll isn't dying. They're a throwback band that flat out rock and roll. I also regularly call Eddie Trunk and give him crap for not playing new bands as he belly aches on the air that new bands have to take the baton from the older bands. F'n hypocrite.

Looking forward to seeing the boys from Muskegon again soon.

i personally like this album alot..much better than war of angels..i dunno, but when they delayed the release by several month of that cd, i just kinda lost interest..and when it finally came out, i was like whatever..but this cd..just plain rocks...alot of the reviews says that the first four songs are good and then just bottoms out until the very end..i couldnt disagree more..the first 4 songs are good..but then, the 5 and the 6 songs are just as good, maybe better..i think this cd rocks all the way thru..the choruses are good on every song..i keep listening to this album in its entirety to find flaws in what other people have said..but i cant..as yet, i dont see any any flaws..im gonna keep on listening to this until eve to adam comes out next week and skillet in june..

Amazing album from a really good band. They play every kind of song on this album, from really hard rock to light piano themed ballads. If you like rock, this is a must have.

When I first heard this album back when it first came out, my review was actually pretty negative (you can still see the review as one of the two one star reviews here). Now, after POP EVIL has certainly elevated to be one of the bigger acts on rock radio, I decided to give ONYX a second chance, and I'm retracting what I said in the original review. This album is certainly not what I made it out to be back then. Granted, there are songs on this album that seem generic (SICK SENSE, FLY AWAY), but there are moments here that are actually really good, such as TORN TO PIECES and SILENCE AND STARS, which happens to be the album highlight. Overall, I think it's better to give things you don't care for a second chance, and that mentality certainly applies here.
