I became a vendor for Ooma Office when the system was first revealed. Theoretically it sounded great. Heck, their old pricing structure was certainly affordable. But from the time I got my Ooma (which yes, even as a vendor I had to pay for), things went downhill fast.

Pros:
-Costs less than some VOIP /IP /POE phones.
-Allows you to use your existing "normal" non-IP phones.
-Yup, that's about it.

Cons:
- Changed their pricing structure within months of launch. It WAS $19.99/mo per phone line. Extensions were free. So for my small business I wanted 3 or 4 extensions but only needed 2 phone lines. That's pretty affordable. NOT ANYMORE. Now it's $9.99/mo per phone line AND per extension. Want 1 phone line and 4 extensions? That'll be $50/mo for 1 phone line. That is NOT affordable anymore considering the very limited features offered.
-While I could afford that $50/mo if I wanted to, I don't want to because the system simply doesn't work. My auto-attendant stops answering calls after roughly 20 hours. I have to unplug and reset the device to have it work again.
-I've called support and opened multiple tickets regarding the above issue. I was assured a call-back and follow-ups and have received none despite my persistence. So I have a no-longer-affordable phone system with limited features that simply doesn't work.
-There is no way to call out on your mobile phone. This was never advertised to be part of the system, but it's a HUGE glaring flaw. Almost every other service from RingCentral, Nextiva, Microsoft Lync, etc allows you to call out from your mobile using your business phone number. Anytime I get a call on my mobile (forwarded from Ooma) that I would have to call back, I have to call it from my cell #.

It's not often I review something, but when I do it is because it deserves it. Ooma Office has been a boon for our small business. The call quality is great, the features are awesome, and the cost is even better. Had mine for about 4 months so I feel it is time for a review. It's a long one, but worth it.

I'll start with the hardware. It is a very plain jane box that hooks into your modem (preferably) or switch (if you have no other way.) We have it hooked up to our switch. No bigger than a standard modem or switch itself, but looking a lot cooler. It will fit fine in your business's networking room or pile of long lost and forgotten networking pile of wibbly wobbly networking cables, as I'm sure most of us in the small business world have. Setup takes 10 minutes. Just be sure to follow the instructions. You will need the code from the bottom of the unit. Included with the set are 2 Lynx units, which are designed to give you dedicated extensions within your office. We haven't used these because no one around here picks up the phone internally (factory) but plan to in the future. The box itself can handle up to 10 technically, but software-wise the main Ooma box is limited to 6 Lynx last I checked. Updates will come in the future, I'm sure. This means if you have 7 phone lines, each person on a Lynx can have a chat and the 7th can be on the main box of the Ooma itself. Hooking up your old phone system is a breeze, as it's just like plugging it into your standard telephone jacks. The Lynx units can be used within a decent proximity of the main box. Equate it to what your standard router would reach if you're curious about range; if you can receive decent WiFi from your router in X location, your Ooma would probably work there as well.

I was really excited to save around $350 a month with AT&T by going with OOMA. It turned out the worst experiment I tried in a while. This is a totally useless system riddled with problems.
I have OOMA TELO at home and we love the call quality and everything about it. So buying a OOMA OFFICE was a no brainer. We had 2 rollover voice lines, 1 dedicated fax line tied up to a 5 extension PBX inside the office. Our DSL has 5mbps download and 1 mbps upload speed, which is above what OOMA recommends.
First the GOOD! Setting up OOMA doesn't take time at all. The user interface is excellent and the process is quite intuitive. The 'text-to-speech' auto attendant is awesome. The voice quality is great. And the user upload-able music while on hold is pretty upscale, and gives the impression of a fortune 500 company. The porting didn't take more than a week and was painless. However, the wheels started coming off the wagon almost immediately. My staff was frustrated almost from second they picked up the first call.
We are used to seeing line 1 and line 2 buttons that light up on the phone when the line is in use. With OOMA we can't see that. We are used to seeing what extension was busy, by looking at the phone (extension button will light up), but With OOMA we can't see that. We are used to transferring a call to another extension by just pressing one single button on the phone, but With OOMA we can't do that. Instead you have to press a series of buttons, example, * and # the extension#. This is just to name a few inconveniences. There are no roll-over voice lines with OOMA like with the traditional phone companies. There are ring groups with OOMA, that are at best, sketchy....And the list goes on.
Then comes the fax line. What a nightmare!
