Book Description

November 20, 2008
In Quantum Moon, Denise Vitola created a nightmarish vision of the near future, an Earth with a minimum of peace, beauty and natural resources -- and a maximum of government corruption, control and greed. Now Vitola returns to that gritty, desperate world. The world of Marshal Ty Merrick. Winter grips District One like a steel fist. Even the most basic resources are stretched to the breaking point. And Ty Merrick, weathering the psychological ravages of her lycanthropy, is busy. Three members of a secret sect -- known as the Opalite -- have been murdered. Now, under the suspicious eyes of the government, Ty must venture into the frozen fringes of a bankrupt society where the Opalite keeps its secrets. Where the natural and supernatural collide. Where only a lycanthrope would feel at home...

5.0 out of 5 stars In OPALITE MOON, Vitola flies us to the moon in style!, March 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Opalite Moon (Paperback)
OPALITE MOON -- NOMINATED FOR THE PHILIP K. DICK AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SCIENCE FICTION propels Vitola into the realm of this generation's Arthur C. Clarke! Ty Merrick, a lycnathropic detective, searches for justices by day and answers by night. In the latest of the MOON series, Ty and her outlandishly loveable partner, Andy LaRue, delve into the underworld of the Opalite when they learn that three of the members die during their mystic initiation rites. With her captivating words and intriguing vision of the future, she weaves a story that immediately propels us into Detective Ty Merrick's world -- and she does it soooo well that I can't count the minutes fast enough until her next MOON book comes out! **This is a must read for anyone with a sense of intelligent adventure, a love of good writing, and an eye for the next sci-fi author superstar!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Vitola Excells, March 22, 1998

Just finished reading Opalite Moon and can't wait to start on Manjinn Moon. Ms. Vitola's creation of Ty is complete, a sleuth of uncommon skill. The environment Ms. Vitola has envisioned for our future is possible and she makes you live it. I enjoyed her previous book, Quantum Moon and I feel that the author has grown in her skills with this book to make you believe. You won't be putting the book down until you finish it. Since her series, as it is now apparent, deals with the moon, all I can say is, I look forward to being mooned again. Excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Author Is an Automatic Buy for Me, December 23, 2000
This review is from: Opalite Moon (Paperback)
I hate this author's dystopian future. I hate the idea of being cold, unwashed and underfed. From my comfortable middleclass couch though I love to travel with her characters through the dreadful underbelly of their society. These are future police procedurals that are as believable as Ed McBain's 87th Precinct and as scary as anything ever written in the dystopian SF genre.
