My wife loves this book.
Wayne Strickland
Great hearing Steve Perry talk about and describe the making of the songs, that coincides with his seemingly passion and creativity for his music/music in general.
Magnet
This book is amazing, much like my musical hero, Steve Perry.

Love this book---but if you play no instruments, it's an iffy purchase. If you play guitar or piano, it's a must have. I love the interview with Steve Perry, and his answers were insightful, but I play piano, so it's a worthwhile purchase for me. Die hard Perry fans will love it!!!!

For those who buy band or artist songbooks for the wonderful pictures they usually have -- pass on this one. There are none, at least none on glossy paper. The pics that ARE there are grayscale/black & white, and there are exactly FOUR of them, all of which are in the recently reissued Journey/Perry CDs or on any number of fansites. Save your money & buy the reissued CDs instead -- that way you'll get the pictures in color.

There is a decent 9-page interview with Perry, with the interviewer tossing out names of the songs in the book, and Steve giving his memories/impressions/recollections of them, most of which won't be any surprise to Journey/Perry fans who saw the "Behind the Music" thing on VH-1.

The song mix is both Journey and Perry's solo work, including "When You Love a Woman", "You Better Wait", "Missing You", "Oh Sherrie" and "Melody", and also includes Steve's duets with David Pack ("Brand New Start") and Kenny Loggins ("Don't Fight It"), so if you do songbooks for the actual music, then this is a good one to pick up.

The overall feel of this collection & the interview is that of an artist who's living too much in the past & banking too much on past glories. Perry needs to get off his butt & put something new out, instead of constantly re-issuing the old stuff.

I'm not giving a lower review because of black and white pictures. I'm glad it had pictures in it to look at Steve after reading the wonderful interview. 5 *'s from me. It was nice to see his music published and an understanding of what he was thinking when he wrote them. I loved it

Love the book. especially the notes about each song from Steve! Very interesting tid bits of information that make me love the music even more. Bought it mainly for the piano music. Can't wait to take up guitar one day too. Shipping was prompt and item was well packaged.
