Editorial Reviews

Ana Rusness--High Plains Reader; June 21, 2001

“...Wagner's music does not deal with ordinary teenage crushes and deflating, disheartening circumstances...she has an air of optimism.

Product Description

Though still in her teens, Margot brings a unique world view to her songwriting from her time spent living and studying in France to her years as a dancer and actress—then she brings those experiences to life with deft compositional style and a clear, confident, shimmering voice. Her songs are articulate, mature and offer a youthful sophistication which spans folk and pop genres.

The songs on “Open Blue Sky” range from stripped-down reflective and intimate songs (“Coffee Cold,” “As In Autumn,” “Poetry On Newspapers”) to well-crafted full-band songs (“Ma Bohème,” “7:53,” “Some Words,” “Bring Back”).

5.0 out of 5 stars Margot's CD should get at least 6 stars, October 20, 2001
This review is from: Open Blue Sky (Audio CD)
Margot's debut CD "Open Blue Sky" doesn't sound like a debut, but that of a seasoned professional. Her musicianship and vocals transcend her young age. All of these beautiful songs come from an 18-year-old woman. It's incredible. Her lyrics are deep and meaningful, and the music is a perfect match. Her vocal sound is comparable to Tori Amos, Alanis Morrisette and Jewel. She's quite a talent and we are sure to see and hear more of her in the near future. Her live show is also something to see. She takes her CD and cranks it up 10 notches higher in person. The way she plays onstage you can tell she is pouring her whole heart and soul into her music. She looks as though she is having the time of her life on stage. Like a kid in a candy store, Margot's face lights up when she plays. I highly recommend this CD to anyone.

My friend saw Margot Wagner play live at her french camp, like the other reviewers. She reccommended this CD to me and now I know why. Her voice is strong and beautiful. Her singing is articulate and the music is very similiar to Shawn Colvin and Jewel. I enjoy this CD and would definitely suggest tuning in. The songs are real, the lyrics are easy to connect to and the singer is fabulous!

Margot Wagner gave a performance at a camp in MInnesota this June- then we listened to her CD EVERY SINGLE DAY! No one ever got tired of the songs- it's too bad she's not really well known yet, but i'm sure she will be very very soon...
