About the Artist

PETER started to persue his musical interests at the age of twelve when he studied to play the clarinet at the Munich conservatory. A few years later he began the training of his vocal skills and his voice became the primary means of his musical expression. The voice has been the main focus of his interests in the field of music and of healing ever since. Throughout the next twenty years he played in a number of bands with various styles of music,ranging from Dixieland to Rock’n Roll,from Jazz to Metitationmusic. He studied with Sufi teachers the use of the voice in songs,chants and prayer to reach the Unity with God ,which is the driving force behind all Sufi practises . For many years he was leading singing groups and facilitated countless gatherings to join people in song and prayer and transformed many of such gatherings into “meetings of the heart”and “homecomings”. For some years now Peter has been working in recording studios and learned to transpose the art of “Live” interaction and ‘heart to heart’ singing to the studio production and as such making the warm and loving quality of his songs available to a larger audience. Peter is touring throughout the US and in Europe at Yoga and Meditation centers, as well as Music Festivals and Meditation retreats and his Songs of love and truth are being received with appreciation and grateful resonance.

The music of Peter Makena is powerful; it is full of truth and full of love. His voice is magnificent, the lyrics he chooses are inspiring and the instrumentation is brilliant. This album is one of my favorites...every song is gorgeous. Particularly powerful are "The Invitation," "Just As it is," "Soaring," and "Free and Easy."

I am so thankful to Peter Makena for sharing his gift with the world. I believe that those who make the wise decision of purchasing this (or, actually, any of his brilliant albums) will feel the same.
