Meditation/Women's Studies

"There is only now, this moment, this flower...Look closely. Forget any other flower you have ever seen. Let this be the first flower." --from Open Mind

"I greatly appreciate the insight and wisdom to be found in Open Mind. Both the quotations and the editor's commentary offer the chance to step into each day replenished and widened-more fully awake, more fuly assenting to our own particular life." --Jane Hirshfield, author of Women in Praise of the Sacred

I read it every morning before I meditate. Mariechild chooses fascinating quotes from beautiful, wise women, then gives her own thoughts on the quote. Occasionally she is so deep, spiritual, and profound, that it goes a bit over my simple head. Still, every day, I get some rich message. The book was a gift from a friend, and now I've passed a copy onto another woman. Isn't that how it should be?

This incredible book of daily readings has enabled me to handle many difficult and confusing situations which I encounter at my place of work and elsewhere in life. The book provides clear and simple knowledge about ways to "change our minds" and become mindful of the place of balance within each of us. Highly recommended.
