1993's Open to the Public was the second (and final) album from NYC rockers Spread Eagle. Here's another band that should have been moderately successful towards the tail end of the hair metal movement, but for whatever reason never really got any attention. Between the fact that there were about a million bands playing this kind of music at the time and the fact that the band was on the "sign `em and forget about `em" label MCA, I guess Spread Eagle never really had a prayer.
It's a shame Open to the Public didn't get more attention, because it's a better than average "hair metal" album that seemed somewhat more authentic than what most of the band's L.A. counterparts were releasing at the time. It's a little bit funky, a little bit bluesy, and has that undeniable New York party rock energy. They're like the East Coast equivalent of Bang Tango. Open to the Public is just a fun, rockin' album that just about any child of the 80's should enjoy, especially if you missed it the first time around (like I did).

This group seems to have not made a BIG impact upon the Music world. So it's funy that I actualy enjoyed them sooo much! Their obvious musical talent, and rather good singing, made this album an easy listener! great electric guitar (lead), was well done, and very well executed. Great music, and great album altogether, check it out , and enjoy!(p.s. Hi, Roma Butram!) :)S.B.D.
