I am sure it will entertain some kids, but.....,

I had high hopes for this one as animation can look so pristine in BD, but I was in for a shock. Sony Animation was behind this, but it had the whole Cartoon Network look to it instead. The main voice talents from the first film did not come over, nor did any of the writing/production staff (and it shows).
The story is just ok, entailing friends helping and rescuing each other with plenty of adventure and rabbit abuse. One of the main characters is a dachshund so apparently the "wiener" humor is what passes for hilarity these days. While it has been playing in the store kids of all ages are entranced by it but the parents haven't been thrilled with the parts they have seen. The "..that lady pulled my wiener.." and "..my beautiful rack.." lines raise a few parent's eyebrows so it hasn't exactly been a hit like I had hoped. The BD supplements are painful, including "deleted scenes" which were hand sketched and not worth the time. The "Weenie Arcade" has a horribly spliced "Who Let the Dogs Out" video by the Baha Men, a how to draw the animals tutorial, and a featurette about the faces behind the voices. I loved Hoodwinked, even with that style of animation, and OS2 looks similar in nature (no pun meant) but is much less of a quality film. I have read where people say this an ideal family film, which nothing really offends me so I would watch it with my kids, but needless to say I lost a few rentals playing it in the store. And for a BD, not one of the memorable ones.

Laugh Count,
This review is from: Open Season 2 (DVD)
Aside from the trite story line and really cheap animation the real reason for watching this animation was going to be it's anticipated hilarious humor. So here's the humor count: Half chuckle 10 minutes into movie; another half chuckle around 23 and again 45 minutes. Fell asleep between 23 and 45 so there may be more. Story was resolved at about 65 minutes and the final 20 minutes was pointless filler. Suggestion: Stop at Open Season 1 if you want to be left with fond memories.

Open Season 2 review,
This review is from: Open Season 2 (DVD)
I didn't have any expectations for this movie, but I liked the first one and wanted to buy this one as well. I was a bit disappointed in the story line and more disappointed that the original cast did not do the voices for this one. It has it's funny parts though. Not as good as Madagascar 2 but I'll keep it.

Not as good as the first one and not nearly up to par with any of the other current or past pixar films. Looks more like a cartoon then animation. Poorly written I dont even know what the story line is about....it just drags on and on and on. None of the original actors returned from the first one which I was not aware of till I popped this in the DVD.
Excellent movie to take a nap too but thats about it.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I would recommend for people with kids to see this movie but not to buy. Go rent it. I doubt you will want to watch it again and again although your kids may.

I love the first one but this one was a major letdown. Unfortunately, my sister loves it so I have to watch it all the time. Recommendation: DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS LOOKING FOR A WAY TO GET YOURSELF TO TURN THE TV OFF!!!!

Just Awful!,
This review is from: Open Season 2 (DVD)
We were so disappointed in this movie, it was just awful. The barely veiled foul language references make this movie completely inappropriate for younger children. The quality of the art work was poor. The dialogue was annoying. If Sony Pictures wants to compete in the animated market, it is going to have to do better than this!

The first open season wasn't too bad, but the sequel is simply terrible. We bought it without any knowledge of it, and basically threw our money away. I seriously doubt we will ever watch it again. My 2 year old recognizes the characters, and actually watched the first 30 minutes of the movie. However, he grew tired of it and we had to put in WALL E.
The animation looks like two separate groups developed the characters. The characters from the first movie look like they did in the first movie. The new characters look like cheap CGI. Hope you know what I mean because it's hard for me to explain otherwise. Overall, I can understand why it went straight to DVD. Buy it at your own risk.

A stinker of a movie!,

This review is from: Open Season 2 (DVD)
Open Season was a great movie. Open Season 2 was a real stinker. The animation was poor, but I could have forgiven that if it had been written well, but it was not. Instead it has an embarrassingly dumb story line. Did they really give someone money to write this script? Really?! It is not credits that roll at the end of this movie, but the list of perpetrators.
