Excellent Disc,

This is one of those great CDs that you can listen to over and over again... It really is too bad that FGH broke up (sometime around january 99). If you're lucky, you can still catch Todd Schaffer (lead vocals and guitar) playing solo gigs, or Dan Meyers (sax) guesting on occasion with guster.

I was introduced to From Good Homes music only a year ago, but I have been hooked ever since. I was lucky enough to catch their last concert at Waterloo Village (8/99). Open Up the Sky is a great cd if you're: in a good mood, bad mood, and especially driving. It is upbeat and perfect to sing along to. Hope you enjoy it!

This is a good album that I didn't really think much of at first but after listening to it a few times realized it was pretty good. Very popular with the fraterniy crowd, ie, people who like Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, Live, Phish, etc. If you like those bands, from my past experience, you are about 93.6% guaranteed to like this one. I can't say they are anything spectacular or amazingly unique, though they do have some relatively unique instrumentation (outside of just guitar, drums, and bass anyway). Most of the songs are very catchy, which makes them great to sing along too, if not a little too pop-y sometimes.

i bought this cd new....and then lost it. i was lucky enough to find it in a .99 bin in FL.....you better believe i snatched it up! i've always loved FGH and can't understand why they didn't catch on outside the tri-state area. i've been to several concerts and they're a good live band. "radio on" and "head" are 2 of my favorites on here.....definitely a good investment...

I just moved from Michigan to Austin and in the move, lost this CD and I was so bummed. So happy to see that I could buy again! Every single song on this CD is so upbeat! FGH was such an awesome band, that should have made it Big Time! And I so wish it was still around. Buy this CD while you can ... and you will love it too. The self titled "from Good Homes" CD is also incredible (I found that one after the move) and is a must have. Check out the lyrics on "The Decision Song" it really hits home (esp when you are making a decision to move across the country by yourself). I was fortunate enough to see them twice live (NYC and Ann Arbor, MI), so incredible, so much engery, such fine musicians! Their style is totally unique, youthful, hopeful, upbeat and so much fun! Miss you FGH!!! Would fly anywhere in the world to hear a reunion concert!!

I saw these guys live in Philadelphia, opening up for Bob Weir the summer Jerry Garcia died. WHAT A SHOW !!! It was almost like being home on tour again, if only for a night. From Good Homes killed it, and Bob was incredible, the crowd was rather somber, being so soon after Jerry, but it was a great time...I recommend this disc to anyone who enjoys awesome, real music.

Unique and remarkable,

I've seen Good Homes five times in concert, and the presence these guys have on stage is remarkable. Beyond the usual offerings of popular, guitar-based music, they experiment from all angles of the spectrum. That's what makes them so great - their ability to combine the refinement of an album with the intensity of a live show. Give them a shot, you will not be disappointed

I have seen From Good Homes four times in concert, most recently at the Paradise in Boston. Since I am 52 years old, I must be their oldest groupie. But, every time I see and hear them, they knock me out. You can't help but get caught up in their live concerts because they really seem to be having a great time doing what they love to do - making great music. "Open Up the Sky" is a great example of the incredible musicianship, singing and songwriting that is characteristic of this group. I am wearing out this CD because I play it so often. My favorite cuts are "Radio On" and "Rain Dance", although all of the cuts are worth listening to. I probably do not fit into the demographic group that is typically attracted to an "Aware" band like FGH. But anyone, regardless of age, who enjoys good music, played by skilled musicians, should give this album a chance. Open up your minds and open your eyes to "Open Up the Sky". You won't be disappointed. And to really get an feel for their live show, you should check out "Back to Waterloo".
