Katie Kazoo: Open Wide,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Open Wide (Katie Kazoo, Switcheroo, No. 23) (Paperback)
I am a HUGE Katie Kazoo fan, trust me! This one was just a little boring, still a good book. It was pretty funny. Nothing really happened though, Katie went with Emma to the dentist office, got her teeth checked, done. In the middle before her teeth were checked she changed into someone, I think you guess, and squirted water into a toddler's eye causing chaos. That was the funny part. I wouldn't BUY this, maybe get it at the Library.

The "Katie Kazoo" series is about an elementary age girl who received a granting of her wish to be someone else. In each book in this series she experiences (temporarily) a change into someone else, and during the period of change she usually creates a conflict that she has to work to resolve after she turns into Katie again. My daughters (similar in age to Katie) love these books and usually consume them in a single day (or a single sitting). The conflict is low-grade and typically funny or light-hearted.
"Open Wide" is about Katie turning into a dentist right before a check up for a friend. It's not a pretty visit, but the restored Katie finds a way to rebuild the patient's confidence and the dentist's reputation. One of our favorites in the series.

This review is from: Open Wide (Katie Kazoo, Switcheroo, No. 23) (Paperback)
This is another delightful book in the Katie Kazoo series. Once again, Katie is changed into someone else through the magical wind. This time, she becomes a dentist to help a younger child overcome his fear of the dentist. Along the way, she learns that words, once spoken, can't be taken back.
Written in a easy to read style and coupled with the illustrations, this book will capture a child's attention. Join Katie and her friends on another enjoyable adventure! |
