5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely!! Top 10 hardcore of all time!
I may be biased coming from New York and basically growing up with the first two, and best, Warzone records. I know NYHC was a scene unto itself, but hardcore branched out just as punk before it, metal after that, etc etc. This is STILL one of the greatest hardcore records, New York style or otherwise EVER! I say that in reference to the first record by far "Don't forget...

3.0 out of 5 stars New York Hardcore but not a marvel!!!!!
Well you cannot say this the greatest hardcore work, when you compare this album to releases by Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Youth Of Today, Black Flag, Misfits, Necros or Negative Approach, maybe it's one of the greatest NY hardcore stuff, that's all. The lyrics aren't very clever, the music could be better...even if I'm a fan of Warzone especially give props to them for...

I say that in reference to the first record by far "Don't forget the Struggle." An absolute drilling, boot stompin classic just as relevant and fresh as "Age of Quarrel" by Cro-Mags, "Bad Brains", "Victim in Pain" by Agnostic and "Minor Threat." This is of course my opinion but true heads would agree, the early Warzone sound from 86-88 is just HYPE!! shredding guitars topped off by Raybeez legendary wails, howls and microphone blitz!!! The seocnd album "Open your eyes" is more of a gruff, less punk more tough guy/skinhead sound and you can hear where a band like Biohazard or Life of Agony got their juice from. A great album, just not a 5 star. Defintely a 3 and a half but it's the first Warzone album that is a must for any REAL fan of hardcore/punk music.

5.0 out of 5 stars NYHC at it's finest, April 7, 2006
This review is from: Open Your Eyes/Don't Forget the Struggle (Audio CD)
New York Hardcore movement occured later than around the West Coast and DC. Warzone front man Raybeez came from the earlier band Agnostic Front (check them out also) as a drummer. Anyways, Warzone was a later HC act. Their records were recorded and released in the late 80's which was marking the end of everything.
This cd is a must buy. One of the finest Warzone put out.. and personally my favorite NYHC acts of all time. Great inspiration and great messages also. Just amazing all around.

Possibly the greatest hardcore CD ever, Warzone breaks out the 88 NY style with a pure message about unity, living in NYC and the scene that surrounds it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What it was all about!, January 17, 2001
This review is from: Open Your Eyes/Don't Forget the Struggle (Audio CD)
If ever there was a cd that deserved 5 stars, it is this one. The first two Warzone albums captured the very essence of what the NYHC scene was all about - good music and a positive message. Ray's sincerity comes through in his voice and lyrics like no one elses, while the bands music drives the point home. This is it - accept no substitutes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hardcore in it's purest form., April 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Open Your Eyes/Don't Forget the Struggle (Audio CD)
One of the greatest examples of a near dead art: hardcore. There were few bands outside of the New York hardcore family, now or ever, that touched as many people as Warzone. Led by Raybeez (R.I.P.), whose lryics speak of what life was for a kid on the streets in New York City. Shows the world that not all skinheads are racist and some of us have some great things to say. This album is a must buy for anyone who thinks they like hardcore. REST IN PEACE RAY!!!!!!!
