When Christy Miller receives a scholarship from a university in Switzerland, she invites Sierra to visit the school with her. Their trip is financed and chaperoned by Christy's wealthy aunt Marti. And what a trip it is!
While on the train from Germany to Switzerland, the girls strike up a friendship with Alex, a Russian college student who's a Christian. Marti is determined to break up this friendship before it has a chance to grow. Sierra doesn't give up easily, though especially on things that involve matters of the heart.
Sierra is intrigued by Alex's accent and good looks and by the poetic way he speaks. But what really attracts Sierra to Alex is the way he genuinely loves others, including Aunt Marti.
Late one night Marti reveals a part of her past that she's carefully hidden for years. Shocked, Sierra realizes she has unfairly judged her friend's aunt. She wonders what it will take for Marti to let go of her secret and surrender her life to the Lord.
With the morning light comes a near catastrophe, and Sierra realizes how precious life really is. Will she learn to love others fervently and simply enjoy the friendships that come her way - without expecting anything in return?
