Some Shining Moments and Some Duds,

The Randy Newman versions of movie themes is amusing... once. But then it's used over and over until you HATE it. The song "We are the Opening Band" is quite good and the collection of jingles for products is hysterical but not for children. (Be careful playing in your car.. :D )The Kleenex one causes my spouse to laugh every time it's played. I miss DaVinci's Notebook, still.

Laughs, I tell ya,

I can only relate my own experience with this album, which is that I put it on the stereo and my wife and I commenced laughing uproariously for a solid hour. What's amazing is that these guys have some real solid musical chops, besides being cunning humorists. "Opening Band" (the track) should be a classic, classic, classic. That no one has ever thought before to distill the particular experience of being/seeing an opening band in such a way is beyond me, but Paul and Storm hit all the right notes. These guys are amazing, hilarious artists in the tradition of Tom Lehrer. Do yourself a favor and buy the album, then go see them live. They rock and they yock.

A good effort. I bought this CD for the Rejected Commercial Jingles, specifically Necco Wafers, Twister, and Pillsbury Cookie Dough. Those 3 jingles made it a worthwhile purchase.
If you like this CD or even just parts of it, try a Da Vinci's Notebook CD. Paul and Storm were part of Da Vinci's Notebook before the band took a hiatus.
