New found respect for an Ancient Practice,
By
This review is from: Openings: A Guide to Psychic Living in the Real World (Paperback)
I admit to having been highly sceptical of this discipline. The word psychic to me had conjured up images of "Madame Marie" or some other soothsayer or con artist. While the profession is, admittedly rife with such creatures, Joan Pancoe is an entirely different case. A powerful, highly formidable spirit, she is an outstanding therapist who's been in private practice in New York for over 25 years. She is, in short, the real deal. The book is fairly advanced material. I found that I had to go back and read some elementary Taoist and Chi Gung texts to get some foundation in the concepts discussed. It would help if the reader did that in advance. The book is channeled and the examples are taken from her cases. I highly recommend this.

Serious seekers find insight and inspiration here,

This book shows how to develop and nuture one's spirituality and live from the soul perspective in this plane of reality. Not for those who are tiptoing into the spiritual realm, this book is for spiritual seekers who are already on the path. The author, who has been channeling readings since the early 1980s, gives nuanced, sophisticated explanations about a wide array of topics, including reincarnation and karmic bonds, sexuality and intimacy, disease and health, dreams and creativity, and she offers practical ways to integrate such knowledge into everyday life. Twin concepts running through the book are the importance of "mindfulness in the moment" and "joy in beingness." Though I read the book straight through the first time, I find myself going back to it for insight and inspiration, especially if somethng's troubling me. Opening the book and reading what's there invariably helps me see the problem from a new angle or provides an expanation I could never have arrived at on my own. That makes this book is a very valuable resource.
