Five stars is not enough...,

This review is from: Opera and Ideas: From Mozart to Strauss (Paperback)
I'm reading Opera & Ideas for the third time. It is, obviously, a favorite. For anyone who loves opera AND ideas, Paul Robinson is someone to have close at hand. He doesn't review many operas and, in fact, includes two Schubert song cycles in the mix. What he does have to say is done with education, experience and intellectual honesty, to say nothing of his fine ability at writing. When I accessed this site, it was to see what others had to say. I was confronted by not a single review. I hope you trip over this one and get curious. Nancy Eckert

You may or may not agree with the author's perspective but he argues it well and is insightful and interesting. This is a very pleasurable book that adds another dimension to some of my favorite operas. Highly recommended.
