The Best Book I Ever Read for Notary Signing Agents!,
By Deb Shaffer (Reading, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Start, Operate and Market a Freelance Notary Signing Agent Business (Print on Demand (Paperback))
I recently purchased "How to Start, Operate and Market a Freelance Notary Signing Agent Business". I have to tell you that I am a Realtor, Licensed Title Agent , Instructor at PACE Institute and Certified Paralegal in the State of Pennsylvania, and I think this book is GREAT! It not only explains the loan documents, which by the way, when I'm attending settlements where some attorneys are present, they let me run the show. I have been doing this for quite some time, and I just wanted to let you know what a valuable reference book this is for someone new in the business.

Excellent for "First-Timers",

After reading some of the other reviews, I was skeptical. I am so glad that I decided to buy this book. Victoria Ring made everything so simple. At times, things did seem elementary. However, I understand clearly. Ms. Ring pointed out several mistakes that I will now avoid. I did not notice any religious overtones in the material. There are scriptures at the beginning of each section, but they are not included in the chapters. Ms. Ring also gives a lot of advice and references to other sources. I was impressed with her willingness to share information. I am very happy with my purchase. I now have a step-by-step reference guide that I can refer to as much as possible.

I almost didn't buy this book because of two negative reviews here that seemed to imply that religion was more of a focus than being a good notary. Anyone with minimal education can skip past the few bits of religion mentioned if they desire, which are simply quotes at the beginning of chapters. Anyway, this book is packed with what's important to starting and running a good notary business. Grab this book now! The price is much cheaper than those seminars that charge over $100 for the same stuff.

This title isn't a total waste of newsprint, as inferred by the negative reviews already posted. Granted, it could have used a good editor and proofreader, but there is a sizeable amount of useful information contained in the book, certainly enough for me to justify purchasing and recommending it to others. If the religious references scattered throughout the chapters bother you, then simply turn the page; no one is forcing you to read them.

Surprisingly this is the first definitive book on the topic of becoming a Loan Signing Agent, offering the author's own insights, background and tips as an Ohio notary and certified paralegal along the way. From marketing effectively via email and setting up a notary office to gaining assignments from title companies and other sources to handling requests for backdating and other illegal notary functions, HOW TO START AND OPERATE A FREELANCE NOTARY SIGNING AGENT is simply a 'must' for any planning to operate in the business.

The ABC's of Loan Signing,
By George E. Puckett (Tucson, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Start, Operate and Market a Freelance Notary Signing Agent Business (Print on Demand (Paperback))
This is the "definitive" book on this topic. I have been a Realtor and a Loan Officer in the past and I had heard of Loan Signing Agents but this book fleshes out the profession and gives a greater understanding of what's involved. I have seen and read other books on loan signing but they were for people already in the business. This book opens the door and gives you and introduction to the business and a working knowledge of the business. When you finish this book you are ready to begin working. It should be called the "ABC's of Loan Signing" or the "Quick Start Loan Signing Guide!"

Reader Beware -- More Relgion than Good Information,
By P.Angst "Caveat Emptor" (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Start, Operate and Market a Freelance Notary Signing Agent Business (Print on Demand (Paperback))
Frankly, I'd like my money back from the author or Amazon. Had I known that I was purchasiing over 15 pages of the author's religious thinking out of a 168-page book, I would not have bothered. While 'Notary Signing Agent' is a 'self-published' book and the author, therefore, has the right to put forth her religious beliefs, she or Amazon should note a disclaimer for the buyer -- that they are buying an informational and religious book. I like my information without religious packaging. Has Caveat Emptor no place in the modern busines world?
I e-mailed the author to inform her of my thoughts on 'using' the consumer. Three months later, no anwser. As to the substance of the book, I think any serious business person would recognize 'fill' when they see it. For example, pages 104 to 115 cover 'How to Set Up A Title Company'. Really this has 'nada' to do with notary signing. Fill, is fill. You know it when you see it; but to pay for it is another matter. In sum, the book is (1) 'switch and bait' for the consumer -- you buy a book on becoming a notary signing agent and you get warnings on the "The Existence and Location of Hell" and quotations from the Bible on "Admit You Are A Sinner" (2) poorly written (see the author's Model Letters --e.g, page 100). I'd advise people not to send these poorly written letters out to serious business people (3)narrow -- e.g., significant mention is made of only one national notary association -- there is little on the plethora of other notary associations which the newcomer notary might want to learn about. I'd like my money back and an apology.

I found the book to be very basic and all the information could have been picked up with a few internet searches. I really didn't get much out of the book and I found it a bit preachy as well. A good try, but very, very basic.

A Good Place To Start,

This review is from: How to Start, Operate and Market a Freelance Notary Signing Agent Business (Paperback)
I am a Notary Loan Signing Agent of several years. I also run a Loan Signing Service. I found Victoria's book a good way to get basic information when I was new to the business. If you are anti-religious or easily annoyed by such her Christian beliefs will probably put you off. I'm not that easily upset and I thought the book was helpful and she has some good suggestions I hadn't thought of.

If you're a notary, you have all the information this book offers. The only difference is, this book is an advertisement for the weird world of Jack Chick. If you're not aware of Jack Chick, do a search. No denomination claims him.
