Since 1986 I have been helping pet sitters start, operate, or expand their pet sitting businesses. The knowledge gained from networking with hundreds of pet sitters over the years, is the basis for the information contained in "Operating Your Own Pet Sitting Business Kit".

My goal is to provide pet sitters with the most comprehensive, straightforward, factual source of information available at reasonable prices.

About the Author

Vicky Whelan opened her pet sitting business in 1986 prompted by the fact that she could not find anyone to care for "Lulu" her beloved parrot while she was on vacation. That problem planted the seed in her mind that perhaps other people were also looking for someone to care for their pets when they couldn't be home.

Her business grew and prospered! She began networking with other pet sitters and working together, they overcame numerous hurdles to build successful pet sitting businesses.

Statistics showed that 80% of the pet sitters went out of business within the first two years. Vicky and the pet sitters learned how to avoid costly mistakes while helping each other solve their problems. This experience led her to start a unique, personalized "Pet Sitting Referral Service" that enabled NJ area pet owners to be connected with competent, professional pet sitters.

Writing "Operating Your Own Pet Sitting Business Kit" was a labor of love for Vicky. Sharing the lessons learned the "hard way" by pet sitters "What Works and Why" was extremely rewarding.

As a result of numerous requests, Vicky now offers a telephone consulting service to benefit new or experienced pet sitters by answering their individual questions and solving their particular problems.

I was able to begin my pet sitting business immediately after reading my "KIT". The forms and contracts in the "KIT" were comprehensive and made legal aspects of starting my pet sitting business much easier. Loved the "Tips & Hints" section. Learning what works and why from experienced, successful pet sitters saved me many hours of trial and error. Greatly appreciated the facts, no hype approach of this publication...a refreshing change!

While there are a couple of good forms that one can use, this book is far to short (only 10 pages in length) and presented ideas that are far too basic (business 101 concepts like "business cards are important").

....!

There are better pet sitting business books on the market.

I FOUND THE FORMS CONTAINED IN THIS KIT WELL WORTH THE COST OF THE ENTIRE KIT... MY LAWYER WOULD HAVE CHARGED ME $100 JUST TO PURCHASE A CONTRACT! USING THIS CONTRACT AND SUPPORTING FORMS THAT HAVE BEEN USED FOR MANY YEARS BY SUCCESSFUL PET SITTERS HAS GIVEN ME THE CONFIDENCE TO START MY OWN PET SITTING BUSINESS. THE HONESTY AND SIMPLICITY OF THIS KIT WAS A WELCOME CHANGE FROM OTHER INFORMATION I HAVE READ THAT GAVE UNREALISTIC EXPECTIONS OF HOW "EASY" THE BUSINESS IS AND HOW "MUCH MONEY" YOU WILL MAKE!
