5.0 out of 5 stars Is great fun-time music, May 13, 2001
This review is from: Operation B.O.M.B.A. (Audio CD)
We have "secks bomba" recording which friend gave as gift to my wife. Album is great so now we fight over favorite song. She like "Bright Lights and you Girl" which is Romantic song for girls to like. I am liking "It had better be tonight" which is Romantic song for guys to like. The instrumental "Which way to San Jose" is good for both. Finally someone who knows what to do with Burt Bacharach! If you get this album you will certainly give it the "Look of Love". Like "Doors" and so many other bands from USA, the unsung hero of "Secks Bomba" is the organ player.

Swinging, loungy, and campy with a garage band attitude. Dean Martin on a 3 day bender in Beantown?

Got wind of these cats listening to online stations, and had to find out more... visited their site and bought Operation B.O.M.B.A.

Exactly what I was hoping for... great lounge music with unique vocals and over the top energy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album of the Millennium!, December 13, 1999
This review is from: Operation B.O.M.B.A. (Audio CD)
Okay, so that seems exaggerated, BUT thisis the only album that I play again and again. I listen to a wide variety of music, and this album satisfies all my yearnings. It's jazzy, funky, funny, rocks, and makes me want to dance all at once. The vocal songs are to die for, but the instrumentals are lyrical and unpretentious, making it a very well-rounded disc, indeed. My favorite tune is Rum Holiday, which leaves me feeling wistful and oddly elated every time. In a phrase: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars Wickedly clever trip back in time, January 25, 2001

This review is from: Operation B.O.M.B.A. (Audio CD)
This album is for those pining for the golden age of the spy genre when class acts like John Steed and Cathy Gale would beat second handers like Austin Powers to the finish every time! Clever retro jazz, surf and other period music are done with style, wit, grace and deadpan seriousness ranging from mellow covers of "... San Jose" to the Feztastically over-the-top "Satan's Shriners."

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting and highly enjoyable retro-70's mix, July 20, 1999
This review is from: Operation B.O.M.B.A. (Audio CD)
The Ventures sit down with Tony Bennett. Thelonious Monk, Spike Jones and Howlin' Wolf drop in, everyone goes back 25 years and does a little acid. The result: Seks Bomba's new disc, Operation B.O.M.B.A., a thoroughly delightful and, yes, groovy presentation of retro-70's music with a double guitar twist. Lead singer and guitarist Chris Cote couples a fine vocal range with the ability to mimic anyone including Mssrs. Bennet and Wolf. Together with fellow guitarist and main songwriter George Hall, the band creates a sound which could be called surf rock but for continuously veering off into unexpected and intriguing directions, backed by a fine rhythm section and Lori Perkins' stylish and compelling Hammond organ. No matter what your taste in music, you will find this to be the most interesting and different listening you have experienced in quite a while. This is a great opportunity to hear something "outside of the box"!
