Operation Blockade,
By MEE (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Operation Blockade (CD-ROM)
I bought Blockade at a tiny gaming store primarily because it was the only game I could afford that fit my requirments. I was not disapointed by it. The graphics and gameplay were very good, and the story was good enough for the game. Operation Blockade is very similar to Beach Hunt, so if you liked BH, you'll like this.Once you become a master at this game, it's all you'll want to do. I still sometimes, when I'm stuck on a game, play Blockade just to relax and enjoy the fun of shooting down planes and ships. It's also good to note that this game turned me onto Infogrames, and I have bought games like Tiger Hunt, and Deadly Dozen from them.

This game gets progressively more difficult. You can play at one of three levels. After finishing a game, which takes many hours, you can go back and play the game segments you liked best.

Years ago, I bought this game new for $5 for my son. Connected our computers and we played the game together for years. Hes now 21 and he still talks about the fun we had together. I am buying 1 for him and 1 for his son. Good graphics for its day, more of an arcade game. Not on the same level of today's "Shoot Um Up" games but worth the time playing. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Sure, this little game can't hold a candle to those that have come out in the last 5 years, as far as graphics goes. But it's tough to get through the whole thing even at beginner level. Knocking plans out of the sky with realistic bullet trajectory is interesting. Blowing up a big battleship's guns and letting it slowly drift away is another kick. Then all the little soldiers try to get onto your island while you're busy shooting at planes, battleships, and other ship. For less than $8, it's worth a try, IF you can find it. You can turn of the blood and turn down the sound of the screams if they bother you.
