He places the reader directly into the heat of battle. This is the most realistic war book I've read in a long time. His description of "dogfights" and of the French resistance adds reality to the novel.
The numerous facts, as well as characters from real-life including Winston Churchill, President Roosevelt and Adolph Hitler, are extremely important to the story.
Once I began reading I didn't want to put the book down. I read it in two sittings.

disturbing information about Germany gaining the ability to create an atomic bomb. There has also been information about the Nazis being able to construct a super bomber that has the ability to
fly to America. A fear arises that the Nazis could drop an atomic weapon on New York or Washington D.C. The British fear that the Nazis will use the the jet and the bomb on their country. The
allied forces have to enact a plan. They decide to call upon the Army Rangers led by Sgt. Thomas Dunn and the British special forces led by Sgt. Malcolm Sanders. One of these teams is assigned the task of destroying the super jet and the other team is given the job of destroying the nuclear facility. All of this covert activity will occur behind enemy lines. The allied effort is given
little chance of sucess. With odds like these you have the potential for an exciting book. Be sure to read this one.
The characters in the book are well done, but overly detailed. You get to the action pretty quickly. Everything seemed realistic. I enjoyed the author's explanation in a post script as to how he came up with the story and the technical help he received.
This is a WW II special ops book covering two missions into occupied France and Germany. The first mission is to make an attach in the Calais area as a decoy before the actual cross-channel invasion at Normandy. The second sends the teams to knock out the atomic weapons research lab in Germany and also to destroy the Horton flying wing bomber. The team consists of an American and a British group with each of them taking a part of the overall mission. The two missions do have a small overlap. All-in-all it is an excellent, well researched WW II action tale.
Tomorrow I am ordering his other book for my Kindle.
