OPERATION DOWNFALL is a great read. It is a perfect book for the winter nights that are on the way. It makes the time
spent in the Airport, waiting for a delayed flight, go much faster.
MARIAH O'LEARY is the perfect heroine, for this book and hopefully, many more. She is a Lawyer, Private Investigator, and, last but not least, incredibly beautiful.
Her office is a corner booth in an older, mostly empty Hollywood Restaurant. The bartender brings her and her guests drinks, and also gets rid of unwanted intruders, for Ms. O'Leary.
In this vast story, we are involved with the President of the U.S., his mistress and possible son. We are involved with an evil billionaire and a plot, involving Iran, to extinguish many innocent civilians, for a gigantic profit.
Mariah's law degree, military background, use of weapons and electronic devices, mated with her movie star looks......makes for an unbeatable combo.

If you like political thrillers, especially those which involve inside-the-beltway intrigue, you may just enjoy Daniel McNeet's most recent effort: Operation Downfall. The thinly disguised Bush era malfeasants, reeking of incompetence and greed are no match for Mariah O'Leary and her merry band of black ops operatives, who stay one step ahead of the felonious bureaucrats. Uber-attorney O'Leary is beautiful, principled and resolute in bringing a disastrous administration to its knees. Having known the President while at Yale, she has no illusions about either his head or his heart. It is unlikely that any former Vice Presidents will be writing favorable reviews of this book.

This was a throughly enjoyable, compelling read. I found myself waking up early to follow the plot with it's amazingly complex details. It is a refreshing liberal point of view of our political potentialities with two enchanting feminine heroines. This is highly recommend for anyone disgusted with our political process. You will be swept along with the exciting tension of the dangerous drama. Will our country be saved in the future by women?

Daniel McNeet's OPERATION DOWNFALL is a cracking good read...fast, intricate, intriguing plot with a wonderful protagonist who beats the boys and strikes a blow for the Constitution at every turn. If you occasionally despair for democracy, this one will give you hope. A cautionary tale of good vs. evil with enough surprises and twists to keep you reading long after it is time to turn off the light. Don't miss it!

Terrific book, very well written, great plot, and fantastic ending. Sadly so much of it is real with politics still so corrupt. A new senator or house member doesn't stand a chance in Washington. Hopefully it will change in the future.

This is not your typical good guys vs. bad guys thriller novel. More like bad guys vs. worse guys.
To call Mariah O'Leary a heroine, is abit of a stretch. Yes, she is trying to stop the President and his cohorts from killing innocent Americans and start a war for their own financial gain. Yes,she is wanting to expose corrupt politicians and businessmen. but she is involved in so many illegal activities herself, along with her friends.
They kill people, then dispose of the bodies. They illegally tap phones and hack computers. When a man is caught having oral sex with a 13 year old boy, do they turn him in? No, they videotape him and use it to blackmail him. This is our so-called heroine? Sorry, not in my world!!

The Harrison/Kennington family dynamic is too much to take. Victoria is Lillian's mother and sister. Sean is Lillian's brother and uncle AND LOVER, even after they know of the family ties.......ewwww!

At times I felt that the author thinks his readers are stupid, and need things to be either repeated over and over or explained. (Such as....."Meals Ready to Eat, or MREs", "Eisenhower Executive Office Building, or EEOB", "A vest filled with eider down, the mottled brown feathers from the female eider duck")
O'Leary's dialogue at times is cheesy and unbelievable.
Everyone seems to bring hidden ditigal recorders to private meetings, but nobody ever thinks to frisk each other before talking.
The author used this book to voice his political opinion of W.'s administration , and the war they began. He put them down over and over and over.

Gripping. Covers just about everything that shapes our political landscape. Sleazy politician hoping for world order and a great storyline thrown in.
