A Hysterical Look at Sibling Rivalry at its Hottest!,
By
This review is from: Operation: Dump the Chump (Paperback)
OPERATION DUMP THE CHUMP is the story of two boys locked in mortal combat (otherwise known as "sibling rivalry") and one brother's ingenius and humorous attempt to rid himself of his scourge-of-a little brother. Barbara Park has a wonderful gift of looking at the world through the eyes of a child. Her writing style captures the brutally honest way that children view parents, siblings, and the world at large. I am using this book in a summer reading program; Ms. Park's entertaining style, wit, and the way she speaks the language of students, has made this book a great choice as one that will keep the attention of students.

Operation: Dump the Chump,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Operation: Dump the Chump (Paperback)
Operation: Dump The ChumpOperation: Dump the Chump is about a boy named Oscar who is having trouble living with his younger brother Robert, or `Slobert'. After all the pranks Robert plays on Oscar, Oscar decides to take control by setting up the ultimate plan to make sure Robert is completely gone over the summer. By tricking his parents, Oscar believes he might just be able to send Robert to his neighbors. Even I enjoy pulling pranks, but I would never go this far just to toss out my younger sibling. Oscar's determination brings comedy to the book making the reader hang on his every word.

I read Operation Dump The Chump by Barbara Park. I really liked this book. My favorite part was when Robert dumped spiders in Oscar's room. Robert said they were black widows but they were not. Anyone who has a pesky brother or sister would like to read this book.

We are HUGE Junie B Jones fans, so when we had read nearly all of those, I was thrilled to find a whole new set of Barbara Park books. I figured they would be just as hysterical, but with different characters.
We haven't liked these nearly as much. Just not that funny. Still well written, but just not the one the girls run to when its story time every night.

Makes me realize what I missed being an only child!,

This book is hilarious-a good book to read if you want a good laugh! My favorite part was when Oscar went to the Henson's (the elderly couple he was trying to dump Robert on) and said "Can Mr. Henson come out and play?". The part where Robert dumped the spiders in Oscar's bedroom was funny, too. This book gives me an idea of what it would have been like to have a younger sibling.
