Book Description

October 27, 2004 0072848235 978-0072848236 7
******Recently Published!****** Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering, 7th edition continues its lengthy, successful tradition of being one of McGraw-Hill's oldest texts in the Chemical Engineering Series. Since 1956, this text has been the most comprehensive of the introductory, undergraduate, chemical engineering titles available. Separate chapters are devoted to each of the principle unit operations, grouped into four sections: fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer and equilibrium stages, and operations involving particulate solids.

Now in its seventh edition, the text still contains its balanced treatment of theory and engineering practice, with many practical, illustrative examples included. Almost 30% of the problems have been revised or are new, some of which cover modern topics such as food processing and biotechnology. Other unique topics of this text include diafiltration, adsorption and membrane operations.

4.0 out of 5 stars The ChE book to keep September 28, 2008
Format:Paperback
If you only keep one ChE book from school this should be it. Along with Perry's, this is a must have for any ChE in downstream or chemical operations.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems okay March 14, 2012

Honestly this book seems okay but there are just parts of it that weren't useful for my purposes so I haven't gone through them. I would disregard my review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Capital V for velocity, you gotta be kidding me! February 21, 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Beats buying the US hardcover for nearly $200 dollars. I really dislike this book on the way it's written. BSL is a much more intuitive book and far more detailed but this is obviously a more advanced text.

International Edition is exactly the same but the paper is extremely cheap. Ripping pages by accident is not uncommon. You get what you pay for. I'm gonna take my $100 I saved to buy...

The 7th edition continues to improve on an already classic text, vitally important to the core curriculum in
undergraduate chemical engineering programs. The accompanying study guide is also valuable to the student
and is highly recommended.

I use to book very seldom so maybe I am not the best person to rate it but I feel like the book needs little more conceptual explanation for better understanding

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but old. May 30, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
It is dificult to find the revision made for this 7th edition. I have the 5th edition and I can hardly find new material in the 7th edition. The figures are old style.

I have been able to use this book to help me through 3 classes so far. Probably will help me in senior design. Very detailed with good descriptions of equations and their applications. Perfect for anyone who needs that extra side material to really get a thorough understanding.
