Editorial Reviews

Review

"The editors sought to cover all aspects of ophthalmology in a single volume textbook that incorporated both clinical and basic science for the comprehensive ophthalmologist. They have amply achieved their goal."- American Journal of Ophthalmology, review of the last edition --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best general ophthalmic text available, January 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Ophthalmology (Hardcover)
This is currently the preferred general text-book in Melbourne, Australia for studying for our equivalent of the board examinations. It is comprehensive, up-to-date and lucid. There is minimal extraneous information, but sufficient detail for the purposes of most general ophthalmologists. It is liberally illustrated, and the quality of photographs is generally very high indeed. There are a few photographs of difficult to photograph conditions that are not up to the generally excellent quality.

My main complaints at present are the too common typographical errors and variations in format across chapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Actually, a review for the 1st ed, but I'm sure the 2nd ed is even better, June 22, 2005

I love to buy medical books. However, I hardly ever use the medical books I buy. The Yanoff-Duker Ophthalmology book is one of the few exceptions to the rule. The layout is awesome, and extremely consistent throughout all the subspecialities of ophthalmolgy. The summary at the beginning of each chapter is succinct, packed with the necessary info, and well organized. The rest of the chapter always has a logical flow and has just enough detail. This book and the Wills Eye Manual are the two MUST HAVE books in any ophthalmologist's office.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, November 14, 2003
The book is probably the best Ophthalmology text ever written. It has a very broad content and the information results very useful. It`s also incredibly well ilustrated and the print is of the highest quality. It`s a pleasure to read this masterwork.
