Editorial Reviews

Review

What a nice concept is realized in this book - the whole field of ophthalmology is covered by a comprehensive question-answer system. It is enjoyable to read as it combines the increase of knowledge with a self-examination effect as well as the opportunity to jump into the text whenever desired. This concept and the reader-friendly format make the book a very good precursor for examinations. A good example of how learning can be enjoyable and yet effective. Try it and convince yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars A solid, unique reference book., June 7, 2000
By
Danny (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
This book is unique among the myriad of ophthalmology texts. It is in the form of question and answer. I find that retention of relevant information compliments this approach. Reading in this style is pleasurable. This is one book I do not regret purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for the oral boards, February 15, 2004
By
This review is from: Ophthalmology Secrets: Questions You Will Be Asked, in the office, in the OR, on Oral Exams (Paperback)
This book is a real gem for any trainee in ophthalmology. I read it initially as a medical student, and then again for the oral boards. Without a doubt, this is the most concise book for the orals, and many of the questions that I was asked were well reviewed by the authors of this book. It made my orals a snap!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ophthalmology Secrets, July 10, 2006
By
This review is from: Ophthalmology Secrets: Questions You Will Be Asked, in the office, in the OR, on Oral Exams (Paperback)
This is a good book designed for studying for board or oral exams, covering a wide range of ophthalmic disorders. Its sole weaknesses are: (1) Paucity of information in a few questions that can lead the reader astray when narrowing down the possible diagnoses, (2) An odd selection of questions on topics such as optics and color vision, with partially correct or simplistic answers. The book would be better if the author had restricted its scope to disease, which is its area of strength.
