2.0 out of 5 stars Very simplistic Information you probably already know, March 4, 2005
This review is from: Opportunities in Financial Careers (Opportunities In...Series) (Paperback)
I bought this book since it was the most up-to-date book discussing financial careers. I have found it to be too simplistic to be useful in my search for a banking job. Odds are that you too are looking for a book that gives helpful info on job hunting - so if this is your purpose I advise against the purchase of this book. Spend the extra few bucks and get the HBS Careers in Finance book instead.

This review is from: Opportunities in Financial Careers (Opportunities In...Series) (Paperback)
This book is a comprehensive reference listing of careers in finance. It would be most appropriate for young people before and in the early-mid college stage. It is also helpful for people exploring options mid career. This best would best be complimented with another book that provides more of a guide describing what traits and abilities make a financial career suitable as part of a comprehensive career exploration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Financial Careers, October 19, 2000
By
L. Stevens (Fort Collins, CO) - See all my reviews
Opportunities in Financial Careers touches upon the vast array of banks, security firms, insurance companies and other financial institutes around the world. With recent deregulation and computerization and the fall of goverments opening new markets it is a stimulating, ever changing profession. Education is a must, computer competency is essential, a second language is valuable, and good communication skills necessary. While requiring continual learning and hard work it is an exciting profession with countless opportunities.
