5.0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT movie no one knows about !! GET IT !!
"Opportunity Knocks" is a cute, funny movie. I have this movie and without a doubt, it's one of my favorites. It is Dana Carvey's first "starring" role as something other than a Saturday Night Live character and he is excellent. This movie never got the accolades it deserved (perhaps not enough press coverage). This movie is MILES above "Clean...

3.0 out of 5 stars Engaging movie with Carvey.
I think since Dana Carvey was the star of this movie, that's what got it rolling and made it fun to watch. The plot is a typical hollywood style plot but he made it different. He's sweet, funny, and sad in this movie about a con man who not only cons a rich family but also himself and then feels guilty about it only when it's too late. It's a must-see if you're a...

This movie is MILES above "Clean Slate" (Dana's second movie). I have felt for years that this movie was a wonderful little secret that only I and a few others in the world knew about. Dana really shines here. If you like Dana Carvey...if you like really funny, sweet little movies...if you have a sense of humor and like a good laugh - buy this movie, PLEASE. I want to share it with you !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dana Carvey's best film, October 21, 1999
By A Customer
Dana Carvey plays a small time conman named eddie whos about to hit the big leagues. He breaks into a house and is mistaken for the housesitter. That's when the movie takes off. He has to play it cool to keep his cover and not let the girl he loves know he is a fraud.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great movie, bad actress!, August 15, 2000
By A Customer
This movie is one of Carvey's best! He's very charming and as always funny. You can't help but start to love his charecter. It was an excelent movie, and I would give it a full 5, if it wasn't for Eddie's (Carvey) love intrest. I don't know if the charecter was played out perfectly, and it wasn't that interesting. Or the actress, Julia Campbell, didn't give it her best. She seemed very boring, and in many ways wrong for the part, and the guy. Other than that, this is an excelent film!

A great movie, one of my favorites! Carvey does excellent acting and the karaoke scene is pure gold! Dana Carvey should consider acting again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The original "Wedding Crashers", November 1, 2005

Watching Wedding Crashers in the theater made me hungry for this film again. It must have been at least eight years since I caught it on TV, but my memory of the film hadn't dulled, and I was relieved to find that my appreciation for its humor and emotional content hadn't dulled either. This film is just as funny and sweet as it was on the first viewing. Carvey is a genious of an actor here, not just making you laugh out loud on every other beat, but really pulling on the heartstrings and creating a character you truly care for at the same time. There's real heart in this film about a Con Artist that walks into the biggest con of his life and ends up falling in love. It has all the humor, emotion, and plot that Wedding Crashers did, only it's done better: funnier, sweeter, and also far more clever. Even if you have no idea who Dana Carvey is (shame on you!) this is definitely a comedy worth watching.

It's a must-see if you're a Carvey fan. They best part is when he sings "Born to be Wild" to impress the girl.

This movie is one of the best con artist movies I have seen. The situations are hilarious but not slapstick, which I love. Dana Carvey has the best lines and facial expressions. He'll have you rolling on the floor.

This movie is hilarious! Dana Carvey is WAY under-rated. The soundtrack is also worth checking out.

I remember this movie from T.V. and a trully enjoy it a lot. It is perhaps the only Dana Carvey movie really worth watching. For those who like silly 80's romantic comedies this one is for you.

I forgot how much fun this movie was! Yes, there are some illegal things that happen, but it turns bad into fun! Basically, this movie makes all the bad things in the world around you disolve for a little over an hour... This is a breath of fresh air!
