Great Board Book for Babies and Toddlers,
By
This review is from: The Opposites of My Jewish Year (Very First Board Books) (Board book)
This is a really cute board book. Each page contains a sketch of a scene from a Jewish holiday and opposite words. For example, the first page says "In syngogue on Rosh Hashanah, the shofar is LOUD; the prayer is QUIET." There are also pages showing the opposites found during Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Hannukah, Tu B'Shevat, Purim, Passover, Shavuot, and Shabbat. The book is perfect for babies and toddlers to both teach them about Jewish holidays and opposites. I like that it highlights the major themes of the different holidays. It would be nice if the pictures were more refined, but there simple nature does not detract from my high recommendation of this book.

For anyone looking for books with a Jewish theme for their babies, this line is just the thing. I agree with the previous reviewer that the content is sometimes a bit contrived, but it's a fun book all the same.

A bit contrived at times, but generally a cute book with cartoonish illustrations. My six month old thinks it's OK.
