This book will cause you to stretch beyond your embedded theology and arrive at a new place of acceptance of others for who they are being made in the Imago Dei as you are.

This review is from: Oppression, Privilege, and Resistance: Theoretical Perspectives on Racism, Sexism, and Heterosexism (Paperback)
This book was an assigned reading for a Women's Studies class in which I am enrolled. While I found some of the thoughts presented to be insightful, I was upset with the inclusion of old information. Most of the studies cited were from the 1980's, with some being over twenty years old. I do believe there is still a major problem in this country with oppression (gender and racial). However, I feel that great strides have been made in the last two decades, and to present old, outdated information only serves to reopen old wounds. The copyright on this book is 2004. I am truly disappointed that the supporting data used gives a distorted view of the presentation. |
