Dont call it a Dimmu clone!!!!,

This review is from: De Oppresso Liber (Audio CD)
If you like atmospheric black metal, heavey use of synth. Than this is definatly a reason to jump in a pit and crack some heads. I give the five stars because they can pull it off live!!! The Dimmu refrences are endless but take a listen. I find them to be a little straight forward in their musical aproach. Give this band a few tours to mature. we will get some great albums in the future. Now whers the Vinyl!!!!!!

Nothing New, Nothing Bad,

This is fairly standard commercial black metal, having a lot in common with bands like Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, and Dragonlord. If you like that sort of thing Sothis is sure to please. And plus, look at that cover art! IT'S FALLEN ANGELS FIGHTING/IMPALING ANGELS! You just don't get any more metal than that. The cover art is worth at least 3 stars alone.

Not a Dimmu Borgir copycat,

Yes, it does resemble Dimmu Borgir, but that shouldn't matter. There are hundreds of bands out there that sound alike. This album reminds me of Spiritual Black Dimensions, but with clearer sound quality. I'm not sure which musical elements they wanted to focus on, the guitar playing is average, nothing too technical. The keyboards/synthesizer is great for additional atmospheric elements, but not strong enough to be the featured piece. That leaves the drums..... Yes. The drums are what makes this album great. This guy is putting in mad work. He reminds me alot of Nicholas Barker on Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia (which happens to be the single greatest drumming performance of any metal record). Overall, the elements blend nicely for a great symphonic/black metal sound. Any Dimmu Borgir fan will enjoy this, it's the next best thing. What blows my mind is that these fellas are from America! The USA has yet to produce anything close to European symphonic/black metal. Abigail Williams could be on the list, but these guys have them beat.
