From School Library Journal
Grade 5-9. This biography moves quickly through the life of Oprah Winfrey, barely skimming the surface of a complex and interesting woman. Nicholson touches briefly on her subject's difficult childhood, college experiences, early career, and continued success on television. Sexual abuse, weight problems, and her incredible wealth pop into the pages along with Oprah's honesty, determination, and generosity, but none are given much substance. Black-and-white photographs, many of which are minimally related to the text, are sprinkled throughout.?Judie Porter, Media Services Center, Portsmouth School Department, RI
