good alternative,

This review is from: Opteka ET-65III Lens Hood for the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM, 100mm f/2, SF EF 135mm f/2.8 & 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Lenses (Electronics)
i bought this instead of the canon brand hood for my 85mm 1.8. so far since ive had it, it fits snuggly if properly installed. the only difference that ive seen from my other canon hoods is that it isnt lined with felt on the inside and the plastic that its made of is a little more brittle than the canon plastic. other than that, it does what its designed to do, block stray light.

It's cheap and it works. It's a freaking lense hood! Spend what little time left you have on Earth and worry about something more important.

It works, but I am not the biggest fan. It does its job. So in that respect 5 stars, but otherwise continue reading. Keep in mind, I have not tried Canon's version though. I like twist on lens hoods better. But the 100mm f/2 is designed for the clip on hood. This specific hood feels cheap. Also it does not clip on backwards. Most lens hoods that I have dealt with (albeit not that many) have twisted on in reverse for convenient storage. It is very easy for the lens hood to pop off too, unlike the twist on hoods that are secured to the lens.
