I have had this filter for a year and it is great IR filter. Unlike other reviews, with this filter, I have taken great pictures, and they look like others posted on the internet (you can look at the 3rd place winner picture of the Natural National Land Marks as an example). In order to get the right colors you need to take the picture at the right exposure and also at the right time of the day (morning of evening). There is a little color leakage, however you also can de-saturate a bit during the post processing. In addition, to get the best of the filter, I have modified my Canon 300D, so I can take IR pictures without tripod and very short exposures. I have taken pictures of animlas (buffalos, cats, moose and birds.

I took a risk on buying a cheaper IR filter, and I now regret it. I used it with a Pentax K20d, which is a camera not known for IR sensitivity. Even with that in mind, the issues were with the filter itself. While it does block most visible light while allowing IR through unimpeded (confirmed with a remote control), it does not block all visible light, which leads to it being impossible to get those beautiful white foliage/blue sky IR photos you see all over the place. No matter what you do, you're going to have some weird color casts going on.
It also has a very hot center, leading towards heavy vignetting. I am not pleased with the product, and I regret buying it.

Great filter for the price compared to the other brands which were 3-4 times more expensive. Shipped and received in good condition. I'm rough with equipment yet it holds up even after rough handling.

Don't buy this unless you have a camera that is ready for IR use. The Nikon D300 for example has an IR filter built in which negates the way this Hoya one works..

Hot Spot in central part of the filter...
the output is a little blurry.. you need to manually adjust the camera for best results... False colors are very difficult to fix once in photoshop or lightroom.. Stick with the Hoya don't buy this junk. you're wasting your money period. [...]

I guess you get what you pay for. I am not able to get a clear image. I set to manual, focus, install filter, and it's still blurry. The images also look more like a dark red filter more than anything. Also the filter requires a much longer exposure. The sample pictures show ducks in flight. I don't see how this is possible.
