I'm a slightly better than amateur photographer. I've taken the intro and intermediate classes in B & W 35mm and 120mm, and digital. I shoot with a D60. I bought this lense becuase I wanted to give myself options while shooting and was tired of being limited by the 18-55 and 55-200 stock lenses that came with my camera. I titled this "Good lense, but you have to have realistic expectations" for a reason. Its a good lense (3.5 stars), but you have to be realistic. A 200-500 Sigma F/2.8 will run you 29k. This lense is $109. Its well constructed, easy to assemble, easy to use (when using the lense with your DLSR, you've got to go old school and use it like a manual camera, set your camera to manual and adjust your settings for each shot. In camera metering won't work. Neither will autofocus.) It does require additional light becuase the minimum F stop is 8. (Play with your ISO settings in camera, I was getting decent shots at dusk at F/16, 1/30 sec, 1600 ISO). Overall, it gives you options and expands your range (I was able to get detail on a couple on the other side of the Deleware River from my position). I would recommend it for people who want a decent stock lense but don't want to put out the extra money.

I had ordered this item which arrived pretty fast. It looked beautiful, made in Japan, not China or Taiwan, it seamed solid, made of metal and of good quality. When tried to mount it on the camera, it did not fit. I called customer service of 47St Photo and talked to a lady that should not be working in customer service. She told me that it was my fault because I ordered the wrong item (I did not) and she will send me a new lens adapter. I attached the new adapter and I found out that was defective. The lens would go round and round with no end with a grinding noise, therefore it would keep moving around with the camera. As hard as it was I took a few shots. When I viewed the photos, the images were so bad as if I used a child camera toy. I am taking photos for a living, therefore I have a good camera.
I emailed 47St Photo and never got a reply. I called them asking for a manager. I was told that I can return the defective items or have it replaced, however if I return it, I WILL BE CHARGE a 15% restocking fee. Imagine paying twice for shipping plus a restocking fee, all for bad quality merchandise.
The saying "if is too good to be true.." is correct. For a little over $ 100 you cannot get a good quality lens, and I mean good not great.
I emailed Amazon customer service explaining the situation, got a reply within an hour, reassuring me that I should not be charge a restocking fee for a bad item and the second day Amazon credited my account the entire amount.
What an excellent customer service Amazon.com has. I will continue buying from Amazon but never from 47St Photo. I did some research online about 47St Photo and there are plenty of complaints to keep you occupied for a while.

It's not worth it. Waste of money. I spent too much and when I received it I knew immediately it was a waste of money. Garbage for sure. Don't waste your money. Spend the money on a real lens.
