4.0 out of 5 stars What can I say, it works.
I have been a big Canon fan. I buy the lenses and DSLR's but some of the accessories are over priced. I'm a purist when it comes to the cameras and lenses, but some of the accessories are just as good (maybe not better) than the OEM goods. This product worked for me. The hood clicked into place and performed. It's well engineered.

3.0 out of 5 stars Opteka lens hood review
Granted this aftermarket hood resembles the OME, but it falls a bit short in quality. The interior surface appears to be merely spray painted with a flat black paint that accepts abrasions easily. The material should have some type of anti-static feature since within five minutes after taking it out of the package, every piece of dust, lint, etc. seemed to be attracted...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Opteka EW-83E Lens Hood for Canon EF 10-22mm f/2.8L, EF 17-35mm f/2.8L, & EF 17-40mm f/4L Lenses (Electronics)
Granted this aftermarket hood resembles the OME, but it falls a bit short in quality. The interior surface appears to be merely spray painted with a flat black paint that accepts abrasions easily. The material should have some type of anti-static feature since within five minutes after taking it out of the package, every piece of dust, lint, etc. seemed to be attracted to it like a magnet. The fitting to the lens was not precise like an OME hood. It was a very tight fit to the point where I thought it was going to break when twisting it on. After a dozen on/off 's with the hood the fit seemed to loosen up a bit. Don't think that's a good sign since either my Canon lens or the hood is wearing material away. For the price, it is what it is, but next time I'm throwing in the extra $15.00 for an OME hood. Lesson learned

This is a good replacement for the original canon lens hood. It serves my purpose. It protects well my glass and removes flares from lamps and sun rays. It's cheap too. For it's price its worth it.
