The Opteka flash diffuser creates a diffused bare bulb effect, giving even coverage across the entire frame, with lenses from 15mm to 200mm in the 35mm format (and equal in other formats as well). The Opteka diffuser is easy to use and goes onto and off the flash in seconds with custom fitting and no touch fastener.

A good flash diffuser that fits just like the original Nikon diffuser on the SB-900...
Just make sure that you actually need to buy it ... don't get caught. Like me, I didn't know that the SB-900 Nikon SB-900 AF Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras comes with a Nikon flash diffuser... so I bought this along with the flash and ended up having two flash diffusers. It's a good thing I'd say .. there's nothing bad in keeping an extra diffuser just in case :) ...

I didn't realize when I bought my SB900 that it already came with the exact same style diffuser, no worries though Im gonna use it to secure my flash to a DIY Beauty dish that I've been thinking about making. I like the fact that it has grooves to lock onto the head of my flash.

Fits tightly, doesn't fall off and does a great job helping diffuse the hard light from a big flash. It's not a softbox, but it is compact and useful. Works great indoors, pointed toward a white wall or ceiling to bounce the light and further diffuse the light for a softer illumination. I definitely recommend getting a flash diffuser for any on or off camera flash, and this one in particular for the SB-600 or SB-900.
