Diamond-cut from crystal-clear, water-white optical glass, Opteka lenses are ground and polished to a precise precision. Because all Opteka lenses are designed and manufactured with the highest possible degree of consistency, you can swap lenses mid-shoot with no discernable variation in color or effect. The unprecedented purity, color saturation and repeatability of Opteka lenses virtually eliminate the need for lab color timing corrections caused by other lenses. I was put on to this product by a friend of mine that owns the Century Optics Baby Death Lense. This one is almost identical and for only 1/3 of the price...It's easy to install & take out and it has a better fisheye than the old lense I used (Opteka .43X HD). I recommend this to anyone looking for great fiseye effect on their videos.

I just got the Skater Package and am super stoked! Colorado jus got dumped on so we've been shootin constantly. The fish eye really enhances my shots and the x grip makes filming follow shots an ease. The only beef I have is that little light is a piece of crap, it doesn't even work. Everything else though is awesome, I feel like a pro now with all this gear. Its gunna be a good season :)

The optics are clear and the lens produces a nice effect. You can fit a lot into the scene. However, I noticed a slight color degradation throughout and blurring around the edges, so it is not focused throughout. If this is the kind of thing you want, great, but I would like my scenes to be crisp originals, and add some vignetting in post. The lens is solidly constructed and feels sturdy, but is likely to weigh down your camcorder a fair bit. And if overtightened, it's a pain to get off.

All in all, the lens is a solid performer for a backpacking movie maker, but there are certainly nicer ones. If you've got a good camcorder, this lens comes in at a good price given its intended market. I say go for it.
