5.0 out of 5 stars Great TALL tripod
First off, this tripod does not have a fluid head - so no, it's not ideal for video where you need to pan around a lot. But if you need to pan, the side to side action will be much more smooth than up and down. It is great for stationary video or photography, especially where you need some extra height. The legs are steady and so is the center extension - even at full...

3.0 out of 5 stars CHEAP BUT TALL
Definitely a case of you get what you pay for...
Very difficult to lock down the head and probably not recommended for heavier cameras for that reason. Head is NOT smooth, at all.

Unless you need the height I'd find something else.

First off, this tripod does not have a fluid head - so no, it's not ideal for video where you need to pan around a lot. But if you need to pan, the side to side action will be much more smooth than up and down. It is great for stationary video or photography, especially where you need some extra height. The legs are steady and so is the center extension - even at full height. Works great at conventions or workshops - you can set the camera high enough so no heads will walk or stand in front of your shot. It is also high enough to reach over most other standard tripods - once again to help get a clear shot. The head locks down tight with three separate mechanisms - one for each axis. The crank for the center extension is plastic but solid and well constructed. The teeth on the center extension are made of metal for added durability. The camera attachment for the head has a metal bolt and metal butterfly to hand tighten onto the camera. Overall, this tripod is solid, well constructed and very affordable. I would definitely buy again, but it seems this one is going to last for a long time.

2.0 out of 5 stars just okay, May 29, 2008

I understand that in the world of videography you get what you pay for and so is the case with this product. Love the bubble levels, but the head is a little cheap if you are wanting to do serious work. Also love how tall you can make it. This feature really helps with getting new perspectives.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for the money, December 24, 2009

I needed a new tripod, so after much consideration i went with this one. so far it is a good buy for the price. It is fairly solid but a little flimsy. I have used it with my canon rebel xsi and my small sony hard drive cam corder. it works well with both. I'm not sure how i feel about the removable base though. All in all it's functional and for the money i would recommend it if you don't want to break the bank.

This is my first tripod, and I am not a professional. I bought this for home use for a snapshot camera and video camera. Works great and is easy to use.

Needed this professional trypod for my heavy supersized binoculars.
At least the trypod wasn't a let down as were the binoculars that suck.
Don't use it much because of that but if I ever want a stand for my camera...here it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent tripod for light cameras, August 19, 2011

The tripod is pretty tall, and ok for lighter cameras. I have an Nikon D7000, and with my 55-200lens, the tripod head creeps down despite heavy tightening. I now have to buy another tripod.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but effective, April 9, 2011

This product is cheap, you feel that.
But it has all the major features needed and it works great. In the end is a true bargain for non professional photographers.

I do not plan to use it every time i take a photo, for that reason too it is great. All what I need at a reasonable price.

Portability is not the best but it is ok.

Cons: there is only one pad to attach the video or photo camera. Since I have both I would have liked 2 pads avoiding me to change frequently. Considering that this is a cheap plastic piece, they could have easily added

i'm not a professional, i had only one tripod before i purchased this one.
I love the size of tripod, the quality of materials and the carring bag.
it's worth it's money. The tripod is great for still and video cameras.
I highly recommend. It will work extra smoth for video camera if you oil
it's moving parts, since the product is new. That's what i did.
