Me saw it here. Me had concerns. Me bought it anyway. It worked. Now me love it. Now you buy it. :)
Seriously, I thought that this item would be cheap and defective in some way. But at half the price of the Nikon version, I couldn't resist. It works well, and seems to be made well too. Only time will tell if I've made a mistake. But I can say that after two weeks of almost daily use, I'm VERY happy with this purchase.

Very well constructed. I have used Opteka products in the past and have been impressed with the quality. This cord appears to have all the functionality of the Nikon including the flash lock switch. Half the price of the Nikon...hard to beat! Great service from Amazon.

Opteka isn't a big name brand but i've had good luck with the quality of their products, and this flash cord's no exception......solid, sturdy, economical and does the trick!.....heavy cable, extends beyond 6' FYI..... sure i prefer "Nikon" components for my D60 but if you can save a little dough on comparable accessories once in a while, and they're well made, i say YEAH >>>>>

I haven't had the cable long enough to know how well it will hold up. However, the connection to the flash is loose. If the flash is on a tripod and you aren't moving around it works fine. But if you hold the flash and are trying to position it it shorts out causing the flash to go off. The metal that holds it to the flash is sturdy, it was just poor design and apparently never tested for fit.

I bought a Nikon D90 SLR and a Nikon SB-600 flash last year and have been using the camera with the flash on the camera. However, I have had flash brackets for my 35mm cameras for many years, so I decided to buy a flash sync cord for the Nikon D90 and SB-600 in order to be able to use the flash brackets. I did not anticipate using the flash bracket and sync cord very much because the flash bracket and flash combination is a bit cumbersome to carry around, so I did not want to pay over $55 for the Nikon SC-28 sync cord. After reading the comments on Amazon.com about the Opteka sync cord and the $29.95 price with free Super Saver Shipping, I decided to order one. I do not have the Nikon sync cord to compare with the Opteka sync cord, but the Opteka sync cord seems to be well built. The ends fit on the camera and on the flash bracket snugly and the flash fits snugly on the hot shoe of the cord, with the Nikon flash lock switch and locking holes provided on both ends. This past weekend, I took about 300 photos at a family function indoors in a dining hall and used my D90 with the SB-600 and the Opteka sync cord on my old Para-Mount flash bracket. Everything worked -- no problem. So I am giving a five-star rating to this sync cord.

I have a D40 and an SB400 as a secondary setup and wanted to have a quick off camera flash setup for it. Sadly because of the limitations of both camera and flash there is no other cost effective way to trigger the Flash of camera in TTL mode without a Flash Sync Cable. The Opteka cable is a much lower cost alternative to the Nikon version and has worked great. I tested the cable on a flash bracket with an SB900 on my D90 and found the cable is a bit long but it was nothing that a velcro strap didn't solve. I tossed up some quick pics of the results to demonstrate how this can be used as a quick off camera setup for the D40/SB400.

This sync cord has worked fine on my D40 although I have not used it much. It has a good build quality in my opinion and gives me the versatility I was wanting. The cord is durable and long enough and I am happy with my purchase.

Just got this cord for Xmas, and my first impressions are that it is well worth the money saved. The male end (camera top) has a metal foot and secures in place via a twist-lock pin. The female end (flash foot) has metal bindings and securely holds all three of my flashes (SB-600, 285HV and Lumopro LP120). The cord is solid and tightly coiled. Though it might be 9 feet in total length, you'll be hard pressed to get a flash more than 4.5 feet from the camera. The other nice touch--the flash end has a cold foot with a 1/4-20 thread in the base, and the thread is metal, not plastic.
Clearly I can't speak to long-term durability, but it feels well made.

I was going to buy the Nikon branded version of this cable, but saw the ratings of others who had purchased the Opteka product. I decided to take a chance. Turns out it was no chance at all, but a sure bet. The cord is very well made and worked right away with my Nikon D90 and SB-600 Speedlite just as I would have expected the more expensive Nikon version. Don't worry about this item. Feel confident that you'll get what you need and save some money in the bargain.

This sync cable doesn't have tight enough clearances and allowed my SB600 to wiggle enough that even slight movement would cause the flash to fire. I couldn't even use the cable and returned it. I ended up returning to Amazon and buying the Nikon SC-29 that works perfect.
