4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Pretty good. Excellent for the price. Autofocus worked fine, keep in mind, it vignettes at extreme wide angle and there will be plenty of bowing/distortion on the edges, but it does what it is supposed to do.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, I guess
I bought this as a gift for my dad. I would say that it does the job as a wide angle, but I haven't been able to figure out the fisheye part. Of course once we got it the paper inside the lens says "semi-fisheye". If it's the wide angle you are looking for then it does the trick, if it is the fisheye you may want to just look for a basic fish eye lens.

Plus: The price, and may be your only option for any sort of fisheye depending on your camera. Shines when you are EXTREMELY close to the subject.

Cons: Not really wide enough to be a really good fish-eye, and too distorted to be a really good wide angle. Not full-frame. Have to be EXTREMELY close to benefit.

Bear in mind that this is a SEMI-fisheye, and that it is an ADAPTER and not a true lens, and you won't be let down. The word SEMI is key here! Know that you WILL get a circular image. If you zoom in to the point that it's full frame, you can get some very mild distortion, but you are really losing most of the reason to use it.

Where you can have fun with this is when you are EXTREMELY close to the subject, and that's where this lens should be used.

It's fun, but don't expect anything amazing for the cost of entry. This could be good for small whimsical videos or goofy effects, and for some interesting macro photography, but don't expect to do too much serious with it at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a fisheye AT ALL!! and poor customer service!, March 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Opteka .35x HD² Super Wide Angle Panoramic Macro Fisheye Lens for Nikon D50 N80 N75 N65 N55 SLR (Electronics)
fisheye lens arrived damaged the 1st time and the 2nd time it arrived in good condition, but when I tried it, the pictures didn't look "fisheye" as pictures showed. I sent it back and exchanged it for a .20 and they made me pay shipping even though I felt it was false advertisement. If you get a fisheye, get the .20 and don't get it from 47th street photo. bad customer service and they aren't honest about their products!

2.0 out of 5 stars Feeling cheated on this purchase, August 6, 2009
This review is from: Opteka .35x HD² Super Wide Angle Panoramic Macro Fisheye Lens for Nikon D50 N80 N75 N65 N55 SLR (Electronics)
Disappointed with this item.... purchased because description states "Super Wide Angle Panoramic Macro Fisheye Lens " when in fact you will receive a SEMI fisheye macro lens ADAPTER... misleading if you ask me... reading other comments and agree good if close up shot... plus in the ad description it shows pics taken with this lens-- -well the circle pic of times sq in nyc could only have been taken with a 360 lens. My son likes it anyway to play around with but wasnt what was actually advertised.

Okay, come on, $35? What's not to love? A great lens for playing around and taking fun photos. Great distortion, very pleased with the purchase.

Picked this up for my son for Christmas. He has a Nikon D3000. It's been a fun lens to have and he's taken some cool shots with it. A very affordable and worthwhile alternative to pricier options.
