works fine - just have to know how to use it,

It's a threaded attachment so you can use it on any lens with front threads. You just may need a step-up/step-down ring or two to fit it. It comes with 52 and 58mm set.
Some lenses spin when you autofocus. This creates an issue with where you've set this filter (same problem with gradients and polarizers). You either need to autofocus or use the half-fire before you set it. Plenty of the Canon lenses don't front spin when focusing. On wide angle or medium normal lens, you'll get some edge vignette. This is true with any attachment that extends in front of a wide or normal lens. You need to use it with a telephoto (prime or zoom) and you'll be fine. But, if your telephoto has a filter greater than about 60mm, you're still going to vignette due to the step-up ring. The EF 75-200 lenses have a 58mm filter and work great with this size. In fact, a majority of the Canon lenses are either 52mm or 58mm filter size. It's fantastic for capturing those candid shots with natural expressions that you can't get when people see the lens pointing at you. Of course, some people use it to spy - but that's not the best use. You just have to know your lenses and how such things work - then you can get maximum function.

I had this on my wish list for a while so was a little disappointed to find it worked on only 52mm and 58mm filter size and tried it on my kit lens on my Rebel XTi. It only works around 50m on a zoom lens otherwise you see the edges of it and a small circle of viewing area. I think it is meant to use on a prime lens but this makes truly clandestine shooting limited. I then got a 62-58mm step-down ring and put it on my new tamron 18-250mm lens. It rotates with the autofocus and takes a LOT of getting used to but i was able to shoot some closeups of people's faces across the room in a diner without being noticed. For the cost it is of VERY good quality but in reality, only good for specific applications where you can do a lot of planning. On the run, forget it. You have to really do a lot of adjusting and the focal length where it works is limited.

I bought this lens to use with my XTi. It is 52mm and comes with a 58mm ring. It attaches right onto the filter threads. I can use it with almost all my lenses but I find that it works best with a mid rang zoom. It will work great with a short range but a nice 70-300mm will allow you to keep a nice distance from your subject
