5.0 out of 5 stars Really good product and as usual 47th Street got it here fast.
I bought a wired remote that I had to buy an extension for to use. But even though the extension is 8 feet long it is inadequate when you are trying to take some pictures. When I saw this device I knew I needed to have it. I used this yesterday to take pictures of my daughter and her family. Simple hold the camera and shoot? No - They were on an uncooperative horse...

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well, except autofocus does not work
A good product, but have not been able to get the autofocus to work. Turn off the AF and it'll work everytime with or without a flash. With AF, it continues to hunt back and forth and mostly never fires. I've been able to get it to fire about 4 or 5 times out of hundreds of attempts. I love the fact that I can trigger the camera from any position without being...

No - They were on an uncooperative horse. The solution is a tripod a good camera, lens and this remote. I don't usually use auto focus in this instance I needed to. The horse did not like the whole situation and so I just set the camera on a tripod away from the horse and started shooting. After about 100 high res shots I was able to get what I needed. But, holding a camera and approaching a horse is not always the best way to go. This remote worked great. It does time out to conserve batteries etc but 95% of the time it will never be an issue. I was standing about 50 feet from the camera at times with no problem. There was one problem though - My two year old granddaughter wanted to "push button" but that is another story.

The wireless remote works great. It controls the camera and allows you to auto focus before releasing the shutter. Best of all the remote does not have to be directly in front of the camera to work.

This is a great choice for an amateur or pro. Shoot one or a hundred, from behind your back, in your pocket, across the room, or behind the camera. Great investment over the infrared remotes because you don't need to focus the beam on the camera, and distances are limited with those.

This wireless shutter release works well - as advertised. It is quality plastic, looks good and is well designed. I paid more for this product than I wanted to. In the past I've constructed radio controls for my cameras using parts from the cheap RC toy cars you find in department stores - usually less than $20 total - does take some construction time but quite easy for most hobbyists familiar with that type of gear. This is the only over-the-counter RC shutter release I've tried. I gave it 4 stars for the following reasons. Their ads don't mention the battery types - the receiver uses a CR-2 Lithium battery, transmitter uses a 23A battery (also known as A23). Comes with batteries. Both these batteries are fairly cheap and can be found in the camera department at Wal-Mart but I don't think you will find them in convenience stores - that's OK with me. The transmitter has its battery already installed - to replace it you will need a jeweler's Philip head screwdriver. The receiver does have a flip-open battery compartment. The button on the transmitter doesn't have the tactile feel of the focus-then-release button of your camera - takes a little getting use to but works OK. If you want time delay after you press the button you will need to set this on your camera - not available on the transmitter. One other point - the transmitter or receiver shouldn't be carried in your pocket with other items. They can be turned on if something presses against the ON button. This is likely only in rather tight pockets such as jeans or a tightly packed purse or backpack. I have no real problem with this device and am quite satisfied with it.

Product works great. I was able to be in a picture of with my family at a reunion. The device is not line of sight so it was not necessary for it to be visible.

Absolutely fabulous product.

I use this device regularly and it is a simple pleasure to use and works flawlessly way better than anything currently offered by Canon for the T1i.
Plug it into the camera's side input jack, turn on the receiver, walk away and start shooting. It has an excellent RF range of 100m (320 ft.) Features 16 control channels if needed, shoots in Single/Continuous Frame shooting and Bulb. The receiver runs on very low power requirements using one long lasting 3V/CR2 Lithium type battery (last about 1000 hours in standby) that is included with the device. The transmitter also has very low requirements using a 12V/23A type battery that is included and installed. (lasting about one year in standby or about 10,000 times of use.)

I also have a JJC TM-Series Multi Function Timer Remote Control (wired type) I have not had nearly as much use out of it as I using the Opteka Wireless Radio Remote Release almost all the time when needed.

Great tool for remote camera operation, I am using this on my Canon Xsi.
It is great for family portraits that YOU want to be in. This remote works from any angle unlike the Canon remote that requires you to be directly in front of the Camera.
This remote also allows you to auto focuses the camera prior to taking the shot.
It's a little pricy at $60 but if you want the ability to remote activate your camera at a distance and from any angle this is the tool you'll want to use.

We purchased this for the new Canon T2i and it works great!

Pros:
For those wondering, it does work the T2i.

Easy to set up. You turn on the receiver, insert it in the hot shoe, plug the wire to the camera and operate the remote.

Fantastic distance. You can activate the shutter from the front, side, back. You depress the remote button half way and it does the focus, depress it fully to activate the shutter, just the like the button on the camera.

No need to go into the camera menu to set it up.

Cons:
Not too crazy about the metal, telescoping antenna. I thought those went out with the 80s and walkie talkies. So far, we had no need to extend the antenna but I could see the real potential of bending it if not careful. With technology you would think they could have an internal antenna.

Not too compact. You have to carry 3 additional items. The remote, the receiver and the small wire. Could take up valuable space for the space conscience.

The power button on the receiver. Looks too easy to accidentally turn it on by bumping it and burning the battery.

Overall, I still give it 5 stars. Takes a minute to set up and it works great.
