I just bought this after realizing I needed a remote of some sort.
First the good.
Just plug it into your camera and it works. Not having a wire attached to the camera is a definite bonus. The button is easy to press even if your fingers are cold. Works with antennae down at least at close range. Small enough to fit in my pocket, and both units are small enough to not take up any of that precious space in my camera bag.

The bad.
The remote requires a sewing machine screwdriver to replace the battery if it goes dead. There is no battery access like there is on the receiver. The battery for the receiver is not a standard grocery or convenience store purchase like a AA or AAA. If you are in auto/auto-focus mode, there is no positive feedback on the button to tell when you have pressed the button down enough to trigger the shutter.

All in all it has done a great job and performs as expected.

3/29/08 although is not a sony brand product. I was searching for similar item but sony only makes wired remote for the alpha digital camara, I order the wireless remote and Ireceived it within 3 days pluged it in my alpha 100 and it works excellent it even works the shutter on the consecutive shot on s mode. I am very please with the wireless remote. opeka made a good product. Now I can control my sony alpha wireless.

A great item @ a greater value. Able to do much more with the wireless. Would highly recommend this wireless, seamless integration with my Konica Minolta 5D.

I absolutely love this device! The antenna broke almost instantly but I just glued the base and it's been fine since. You can push the button plugged into your camera or take the remote far away and use it. Great for self portraits! I recommend this to any photographer!

I am an amateur photographer. My Sony Alpha 350 is my first DSLR. I had read in photography books (mostly purchased from Amazon.com) that I could take better photos using a tripod and a remote shutter release. I was not convinced, since my Sony already had an anti-shake feature built into the camera. It was one of the reasons I bought it. After a year of use, however, I decided it was time to consider buying a shutter release, especially for portraits and still life. I like the idea of wireless and, since Sony didn't offer wireless, decided to give the Optika Remote Release a try.

My first use involved photos my wife asked me to take of her collection of embroidery scissors. That seemed a simple request. I took several photos holding the camera in my hand, but few came out well. Some showed movement. Others reflected light that I hadn't realized was there. I set up my tripod, used my LCD screen to frame the shot and attached the remote shutter release. It worked like a charm! Every photo was crisp and clear, as opposed to those I'd taken by hand.
The remote release was the key! It was easy to attach and to use. It assured that no movement would occur when I took the picture. I'm so glad that I bought this without really understanding how it could help. I can't wait to try it in landscape photography!

Sony Cameras are so funny .My 350 body shoud cost 2000 dollars easy.The support is excellent and the new 3.1 raw converter software is the bomb.Their accessories though are what kill them.I went out and bought all off brand stuff like this.For the same money as something with a 10 foot cord you get a wireless System that goes 100 feet.There are 2 batteries one in the reciever.If your not going to use it for a while you might want to take it out of the reciever.Big deal you need a phillips screwdriver.I forget but I think they are those stock cr2 batteries you see in the minolta bodies.The trigger has an on off button so I think your safe leaving that battery in.It has a nice cloth that you popthe battery into so you just pull on it and it pops out real easy a nice thought.Mine fit like a glove.Thanks amazon

but their loss. This item worked as advertised. Good addition for the Sony camera. My wife isn't very tech-oriented but she hooked it up and worked fine w/o my assistance so I recommend it.

This product is a great purchase for those who are looking for a remote but do not have a lot to spend. I have found to be very reliable.

I wanted a wireless remote for my Sony Alpha 300 camera and this item did not disappoint at all.

I needed an inexpensive remote for my Sony Alpha 350 and found it here. It does all I need and the price was well within my budget. If you are thinking of buying on, do so... I don't think you will be disappointed.
