I received it as a sample from my eye doctor.

I only had my contacts in for about two hours the first time I used it, and about an hour after taking them out I had severely bloodshot eyes.

It ended up burning or irritating my eyes too much.

This product was given to me by my eye doctor as a promotion (free sample). I tried it & within hours I had bloodshot eyes & soreness. I had to take out my contact lenses (which for 33 years have NEVER caused me any issues!), and it took days for my eyes to return to normal. Of course, the first time I didn't suspect the Alcon Pure Moist solution - I thought I had an eye infection - so when my eyes returned to normal, I put my contacts back in ... Yikes! Now, I figured it out. However, it took even more days for my eyes to return to normal the 2nd time. When I finally realized what was happening, I rinsed my contacts really well with a different solution, then stored them in that other solution overnight. The next day (this morning), I put my contacts in & my eyes are just fine ... no soreness & no bloodshot eyes that make me look like a druggie.

OptiFree Pure Moist irritated my eyes, clouded up my contacts forcing me to replace both, and costs more than other solutions. Do not buy this solution!!!!!!!

This gets a second star because it doesn't irritate my eyes like some solutions do. However compared to the older Opti-Free Replenish and Opti-Free No-Rub, this is a major downgrade.

With the older ones, I could wear my contacts all day. 8AM to Midnight. With this stuff my eyes start getting dry and tired around 8PM.

Additionally, it is not a No-Rub solution.

Lastly, the cap sucks. It doesn't stay open.

My wife received this as a free sample from her optometrist. She normally uses B&L Biotrue and has also used several other brands, and she decided to give the sample a try. Within two minutes of using the solution as directed and placing a new set of contacts in, she suffered from a growing burning sensation all over her eyes and was soon unable to keep her eyes open due to the pain. She called me to the room and I had to actually set up an eyewash for her so she could wash enough of the solution out of her eyes for her to be able to even remove her contacts.

After removing the contacts, her eyes were disturbingly red and irritated and she was unable to wear contacts. Even switching to her glasses, her vision was so blurred for the next two hours that she could not drive. It took over four hours for her eyes to return to normal.

Looking at the ingredients, the primary differences between this and the B&L Biotrue are that the Alcon Puremoist contains sodium citrate, sorbitol, and some proprietary wetting agents. We aren't sure which of these is responsible for the reaction, but we will definitely be reporting it to her optometrist and recommend anyone considering this product proceed with caution.

I wore contacts for over a year while in high school and stopped when I began to suffer from insanely irritated, red blood shot eyes and would often wake up with goop in my eyes in the morning. My eyes were so dry all the time no matter how little I wore these. I believe a scratch I have on my right eye is a result of using this product. Flash forward 4 years I finally decided to give contacts another shot. It was successful for the first month and it went back to the way it used to be. I forgot to mention that both times my eye doctor recommended this same brand. I of course think nothing of this until the irritation comes back. I tried Bausch & Lomb rewetting drops as they were on sale and they seemed to work quite well compared to the opti free rewetting drops. Last week I was at Target and they had Bausch & Lomb solution on sale and I was running low on my other solution. I purchased Bausch & Lomb BioTrue and it has not disappointed me one bit. I have worn my contacts all day, no need for rewetting drops at all for almost 16 hours and at the end of the day they are still crystal clear. The real sign was when I woke up with white eyes and no goop. I am so thankful to have found something else that actually works for me. I was afraid I was going to have to throw in the contacts towel for good.

Got eye exam today. Took contacts out then put them in at Dr's after. Used his OptiFree Moist. Immediately starting burning and tearing. Took them out rinsed them in regular saline, left them out to soak in saline and asked Dr to look at my eyes and told him what happened. He said I had a little chemical burn. The contacts were in just a few minutes - I couldn't stand it. He put more soothing drops in and it helped a lot and said the burn would go away quickly. Rinsed and soaked the lenses in regular saline changed case. Waited at the Dr another 20 min to settle and get some relief. Tried putting in contacts again and same burn. Tossed those lenses and put in new ones. A-OK. It was the Pure Moist that was burning my eyes. Just not a good fit for me. If you have that reaction take em out right away and be prepared to toss the lenses. He said he had never had a problem or heard of one. I had never had a problem. I see now there are many who have. I wear ProClear soft lenses and use Clear Care at night and take them out daily.

I foolishly bought this product because it was on sale and I had a coupon (yay me). Within the first couple days my eye became irritate, bloodshot and goopy. I thought I had pink eye. Then I would wear my glasses for a few days until it cleared up, but it came back again once the contacts were in. I thought something was wrong with my contacts so I changed them out early; I even changed my case out twice. When it wouldn't clear up I thought I had a serious eye infection. Then it was revealed that it was the solution, and my problems started happening right around the same time. I've gone back to Replenish with much better results. This Pure Moist is AWFUL!
