This has the dreaded reboot issue just like every 3rd party dongle. If you're unfamiliar, what it does is reboot your XBox if you have both an HDMI cable (for video) and this dongle plugged in for optical audio (maybe for your Turtle Beach headphones or home theater system) at the same time, and THEN try to switch inputs or shut the TV off. I found it very irritating whenever I wanted to pause a game and turn the TV off to avoid burn in or switch over to cable to see what's going on with the hockey game or whatever. The Xbox would always reset when I did this. This is caused by a wire they left in that should have been taken out. Not a HUGE issue but it's pretty annoying it had to shut it off every time I wanted to go do something really quick.

(note: everything else does work fine if you don't care about rebooting/ if you never shut the TV off or switch inputs anyway)

Now like I said, only 3rd party dongles are wired like this. So if you want to avoid this you'll have to buy a genuine Microsoft branded product which can be expensive since they don't make them anymore. HOWEVER, after a bit of research I found another one that's much cheaper at $2.79 and doesn't have the reset issue. It's a Monoprice branded one.

You can also crack it open and take out a certain wire to fix it, but why waste your time on a badly wired product when you can just buy a cheaper, correctly wired one from Monoprice.

Bought this adapter after purchasing a Turtle Beach headset for my xbox and PC. I had my xbox running through surround sound system via a receiver and found out I wouldn't be able to use my headset and receiver without this adapter. Worked well after set up, headset and surround sound would both work while plugged in except I did need to get a HDMI cable to hook up to the TV.

Only issue is while switching inputs the xbox will reset. I never leave the console on while using other inputs, so this really didn't affect me.

Cheap and effective! I was unable to use my surround sound and keep the HD picture at the same time, but this did exactly what I wanted. It provides enough room for the HDMI cable to slide underneath the hook up. I can now play games and watch DVD's through the X-Box with excitement!
