Thanks to everyone's reviews, I decided on these lights. These are really good fog lights, to my surprise, and they will be replacing a pair of HELLA MicroDE fog lights that have started to corrode badly. The light pattern is very wide and bright. As for the removing of the shield, I did a side by side comparison to see what the difference was between the standard and the light with the shield removed. I honestly did not see much light variance side by side. On the other hand, looking at the shield-less light when lit, was not as tolerable vs. the shielded light and this could be a bother to opposing traffic. I also noticed that the housing on the shield-less light got hotter faster than the light with the shield on. They were both on for about 2 minutes at the same time and the shielded light was warm to the touch while the non shielded light was really hot. Based on my observation, I think I will leave the shields on since they seem to absorb some of the radiating heat from the bulbs as well as preventing bright glare to escape. Well that's all I have to say about that. No regrets here for now.

there is an internal black reflector that dims the light for foglight use,
do yourself a favor and open up the unit and unscrew this black housing, to increase luminosity.
installation is striaghtforward for foglamps. the wires included are bare, you may want to buy some wire loom. for the relay switch, i spliced it into the low beam headlamp hotwire to turn on when the lows are on.
excellent light output.

I installed these on my 97 Maxima. I was surprised by the amount of light it produced. Lights up the road a lot more. I took the black reflector out as the other person said it the previous review. Definitely do this, it makes a huge difference in light output. Overall its an awesome set for the price. 5 stars

The lights work great and adding a second set of lighta really helps here in the northwest. The included switch was cheap and worthless since my F150 has an auto-on light feature and I wanted to run them wihen the light were on. So I just cut it out of the diagram and by-passed it.

Another good experience through Amazon. Ordered these lights based on existing reviews. They shipped in 5 days-with SuperSaver no less! It took several hours to install on our Suburban, but I'm picky about stuff. I took the grille, bumper and lower valance off in order to mount them securely and as close to factory appearance as possible. The instructions were very easy to understand. I installed the set per the instructions with the exception of the recommendation of other reviewers regarding the black deflectors inside-I removed them as well. In hindsight I would probably just wire them to the low beam headlights rather than using the included wire harness. The only reason for the harness is if you want an on/off switch. Don't know about longevity yet but I'm optimistic. I will probably buy another set for my other vehicle.

These things give off a pretty wide pattern for being so small. they could be a tad bit brighter but they are a fog light which is exactly what i needed. Lights feel well made and sturdy. The wiring harness is very well made. Wire is of good quality and is fairly long however, the load wire that goes from the switch to the relay was not long enough and needed to be extended for my needs. The switch that comes with the kit is really nice and has an LED active light thats red when the lights are off and greeen when the lights are turned on, but i wont be using it.




EDIT: CRAP! lights started to leak. seems like the weather stripping inside around the lens is way too big and doesnt seal right. took the lights off my front bumper and put them on my rear bumper to use as reverse lights since they didnt give me the light output desired. after almost of week of being on my rear bumper they filled up completely with water even worse than they did on my front bumper and one lens also cracked. going to contact the company or seller to see if i can get a replacement lens. READ ALL REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING. THESE LIGHTS ARE NOT THE GREATEST.

THESE LIGHTS ARE FANTASTIC ! COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THEY ARE, BEING SO SMALL. ADDS LIGHT TO BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD AND HELPS IN HARD RAIN AND FOG. VERY EASY TO INSTALL!

I was looking to buy some good fog-lights for my car, I did a lot of research, I was going to go for the Hella FF50, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so the second option was the Optilux 1450, like everyone said these are some pretty good quality fog lamps, they feel sturdy, however I agree with Tito's review, don't remove the black shields, as without them the lamps get very hot and you don't want to blind oncoming traffic, I tried a comparison side by side, one lamp with shield and the other one without it, I couldn't see a mayor difference. The cables are good, the only complaint that I have is the plastic switch, it feels a little cheap, but I'm hopping it will hold up.

Like many other people here have posted, the lamps themselves are a fantastic value. But definitely open them up and remove the black plastic reflector, and definitely re-seal them. Mounting brackets are universal, so there should be no problem getting it mounted to any vehicle (went onto a Jeep Cherokee no problem).

The wiring harness is ok. Relay seems solid and the wiring is pretty rugged. Plug in connectors feel solid, but I would recommend some kind of shrink wrap or protective coating around them. The wiring diagram is also ok. It's not very descriptive but is easy to understand. The switch that comes with this is cheap looking and doesn't feel solid. It works, but plan on replacing it.

I purchased these because of the size and good reviews. These were very easy to modify into an H3 HID setup and the pattern is very good. I also removed the inner black piece from each light and sealed everything up with clear RTV after modifying them. They were a better fit in the stock location of my Jeep Cherokee and would purchase them again. The H3 retaining clip even worked with the HID H3 xenon bulb I used for the conversion. The only complaint I have with these lights and it`s a minor one, is that the stock sealing o rings for the lense and housing are not a very good fit to create the best seal so i am a little worried about water intrusion. Definately the best bang for the buck.
